Colin...not sure how to create a link but search for the thread "engine bay heat" ...James has also put a transcript from his magic book explaining when the fans should ideally work. Mossy is also the man to talk to I believe!

I am sure Colin will be pleased to have got an answer to this issue......poor chap must have been worrying about this for 9 years now. :)

Note to self..."must read the bloody post more carefully before committing finger to keyboard!!!" :ihatpcs:....

In HK we have longer period of the hot days with fairly high humidity as well....

The rear side pod fans comes pretty much when the vee is crawling or sitting in congested traffic. They do come on sooner too when you have the air con on, partly because the idle control is turned up higher and the low speed front fans comes on pretty much as soon as you turn the A/C on.

It is always funny to see ppl get spooked when they walk past a freshly turned-off vee with no one it it and suddenly the pod fans come on

Mine were on the first time in a while on Friday. But didn't stay on after a turned the engine off...bizarrely!

I had a new 5 GT Turbo back in the 80's when engine fans were rare, neighbours or passers bye would knock the door to tell me I left the engine running....

I also remember a track session of some sort in the Vee at I think Magny cours or Dijon when we all got back to the paddock, everyone's fans were running but mine and as the other cars fans starting to shut down mine then came on....
