Engine Fans..

anyone elses fans start up all the time in town etc..its the most god damn annying thing as soon as temp goes over half way...there we go again!

ive seen me driving round and then parking up..and after 2-3 minutes the fan comes on and you have to to have a conversation over the damn thing! and it will stay on sometimes as im walking away to town etc..for about 15 mins before going off!

arrghhhh!!!

My fans are mapped to come on whenever I go below 10mph. Gets very hot in the back so the cooling is needed.

A simple example of mine from me of course.

I go from Southend to London and the fans start just as I get into London.

mine used to come on all the time. used to be funny watching people walking past the car wondering what the hover noise was.

In the summer mine come on reasonably regularly after a fast run ... often after I've departed the car. People have joked at work about how my car has attempted to suck them into the side vents as they've walked past ;).

I've the same situaction - now I'm looking for electric diagrams to check this issue.

Just a little side info:
If you drive around with the AC turned on they will kick in earlier.
There was a discussion about this before somewhere in the forum.

Colin...not sure how to create a link but search for the thread "engine bay heat" ...James has also put a transcript from his magic book explaining when the fans should ideally work. Mossy is also the man to talk to I believe!

REM, thx but I can't find this topic.
As we know, V6 has 4 fans.
2 - front radiator (working in difference speed)
2 - side fan, rear
Well... in my case its look like that, with increasing temp start working (in this order) fans :
1 - lower speed, fron radiator
2 - two side fans (rear)
3 - when 1&2 don't help, starting second front fan (higher speed).
I think it should be in order 1 - 3 - 2.

engine bay heat topic

James, thx but I'm -> "You are not authorised to read this forum." ;)

The engine bay fans do draw attention when they come on - sitting in a traffic jam on the M4 the other day I noticed the chap alongside me, who was on his phone, closing his passenger side window........but they are there for a specific purpose.

James, I send you an email - but occur mailer-demon.
Paste :

Hi,
thx very much for help.
At first I apologize for my english, I’m from Poland and I don’t use language too often – so it’s little rusty ( I help myself with translator). Puszczam oczko
About fan working mode :

“Likewise, if the temperature in the engine
compartment is greater than 70˚C ±10 after stopping
the engine, the rear fans are actuated.”

My rear fans works too often.
With each trip, several times.
This worries and scares me.
In my friend's car, when we drive together – they don’t work, and temp of his car is properly.
What could be reason?
I haven’t got CAT – no second O2 sensor?
