Engine bogs down under hard acceleration

Hi,
Took the clio out yesterday after a couple of weeks of sitting in the garage. After it warmed up I drove it quite hard for a bit. When changing from 1st to second. No issue. When changing from 2nd to 3rd and planting my foot it bogged down and didn't want to play. At slow and medium pace it was fine. Just when you booted it. Also when travelling fast and changing down into second I usually blip it to bring the revs up. It didn't like that either. Battery was fully charged. It had fresh fuel in it. No lights up on the dash. No codes. Only checked on a cheapo reader!
Does it sound coil pack related???? Any other ideas? Cheers

Hiya.

If it was a coil pack it would missfire at all rpm & also wouldn't run ok at low loadings & then bog down like that when you boot it.

Could be fuel pressure related but it's odd it's ok driving it hard from 1st to 2nd but not 2nd to 3rd. Sounds gear position or road speed related but not sure why.

Give Scott a ring at SG Motorsport, he may have come across this problem before. :race: :approve:

I had a very similar experience with mine which turned out to be the fuel pump. Basically it ran the engine perfectly fine at part throttle or cruising speed but it didn’t supply enough pressure and/or fuel under a second or so of load. Effectively starving the engine.
