just took a daewoo matiz in for its mot and its failed on emmisions does anyone know or can narrow it down to something with these readings cheers

engine speed 2970rpm pass
co level at 2970rpm=10.63% fail max 0.30
hc level at 2970rpm=399ppm fail max 200
lambda at 2970rpm=0.72 fail min 0.97 max 1.03
second fast idle is just as bad

any ideas will be great cheers guys

Ya see the problem is, its a Daewoo lol! all things considered, run some cataclean through it, and give the car a propper workout through the rev range before you take it for the retest

cheers mate ive got a new coolant temperature sensor on the way and have removed both lambda sensors will check clean and refit

its got a serious misfire with 399ppm HC's.

which explains the high CO and rich Lambda reading of 0.72.

have you changed the plugs? any access to some live data?

neither of those will sort a misfire now will it?

just throw money at it an hope eh minichapperz?

hmm

other thing should mention is change the oil and filter.

Amazing how often just doing that can bring a car within limits. especially if its had a misfire, or dribble injector etc

changed the coolant sensor and lambda sensor and it sailed throught today happy days apart from a corroded brake pipe which is my next question will a steel to copper joint pass the mot if i just replace the corroded piece and do a joint in an accessible place or doi have to go all the way back to the cylinder

as long as its adequately supported then it will pass. however I would just run a new length myself, much easier.
