Egr valve

can you record the live data with your scanner?

Record the settings then see what trips.

i assume misfire codes again? 30 seconds isn't long for it to count up enough misfires to flag the fault, you shoudl be able to detect a miss like that easily.

just watched some of it back it gives me 2 lambda sensors oxygen sensor voltage bank 1 sensor 1 and oxy sensor bank 1 sensor 2 i take it that mean one before cat and one after as the one before voltage is jumping all over the place and the second is just dead with only 0.01 voltage change at a time should this be jumping about abit more ?

rigth just to add to that chris ive just live streamed my old mans 2007 ford focus cmax and after about 25 secs the second lambda start picking up data and basically follows the line of the first sensor so i guess either my cat or the sensor in nakered

I can't run that thing on ubuntu.

secondly the second lambda should not switch, it should remain constant level output, with some slight variance and it will show rich when flooring it and lean when backing off but it will not switch.

The first lambda should be switching hi and lo at LEAST once a second. More is better, less is not.

I'm not sure what you mean by line, is this a graphical representation of the lambda output? if so whats the refresh rate of it?

Also if the old boys cmax was a cold start (less than 50 deg coolant temp) then it will be in open loop and the cat will be cold so the 2 sensors will mirror each other pretty closely until the cats up to temp. Which should then show a constant output on the secondary lambda and the usual switching on the primary

rigth cmax was from a cold start and did exactly as you said and yes sorry by line i meant graph but on my laguna from a cold start the secondary sensor just stayed dead no movement what so ever ? could it be duff

could be duff. what exactly is it doing? do you have a v reading for it? should be around .45v or so when at closed loop idle.

Does the cat rattle with a tap?

How does the tailpipe feel?

the cat is a ridulously small one basically tucked up under the turbo as the down pipe does a 90deg bend quite hard to give it a rattle
tail pipe feel as in hot ,condense ?

also the voltage for the first new sensor 0.125v to 0.735v
and secondary 0.480v to 0.490v

yeah I know the one, its that same with the particulate filter on the diesels as well, an arse to get to.

those lambda readings are pretty much bang on. Perhaps a bit shifted to the lean side of things (should be 0.2 - 0.8 ish ideally.

tailpipe as in free flowing, not clogged or hardly anything coming out of it.

The cats doing its job from those readings anyway

look elsewhere methinks.

can you not do screen grabs of the data you recorded?

ive also just lookd in my handbook and the ligth that flashes on and off occassionally is toxic fume filter system warning light

screen grab of the graphs may show something.

The light is saying an emission issue (all vehicles are programmed for emission compliance NOTHING ELSE) so the limited operation strategy will make the car safe to drive and retain emission compliance.

Basically its doubtful its the cat, unless its clogged slightly, what coils do you have on it? what plugs?

new coils cheap ones off ebay about 45 quid for 4 and new plugs were about 6 quid each ngk ones how do i do a screen grab

print screen.

The coils will more than likely be your problem then.

cheapo ones cause more problems than they solve.

Only fit Beru ones. The rest cause these types of issues. if someone brings me a car and its cheap coils I decline the work and yes I have lost customers this way but they don't listen to reason.

I would fit new coils, or fond someone with a similar car and borrow theirs.

ours had cheapo ones on it and they were less than 6 months old. Crap.

i had experienced these issues with pugs and citroens with their big coil packs but only with our laguna and since then a few meganes that you really need the oe gear on them which is the beru units which are modified, the siemens give hassle as well but I think they have also been updated.
