DOC's f7r megane coupe

I've had the coupe a little while now and like with any car, there have been some small issues. firstly I noticed that while i was in Iraq the inlaws had scratched the paint on the bumper and rear quarter. The blind monkey that did the spray job must have liked the rattle can a bit too much as he got overspray all over the car. The car went into my local repair shop and for the princly sum of £200 I have the N/S rear quarter, bumper and O/S rear arch dressed and sprayed. the jobe came out well and the car realy looks the part now.

The sterio was then fitted and 0 gauge power cable run through the car for the amps. I also spent £135 on a 5m and 1m Streetwires RCA cables. (these are about the best you can buy at the moment and that have got rid of all external noise) subs and amps will be going in the boot in the next couple of days after the Dynamat has been layed.

Yesterday i spent all day fiting my new twin exit K-TEC exhaust. I got it off the bay for £120 notes and tbh thats a good deal considering it's £142 + vat for a standard back box. (renault only item) anyway after hours of pissing about i managed to get it fitted. I still have a slight leak arround the cat (wich i couldnt close so i left it for another day. (lol) and I ran out of materials to fabricate a new mount for the second exhaust, so cable ties were the order of the day to sort it out till a better solution comes up.

[BREAK]

The car has been running spot on since I bought it, which is a novelty, seeing as all my 19's liked to blow themselves to pieces. I got it MOT'd the other month and the only thing needed was a rear suspension bar and the side indicator bulbs changing for the orange ones. (I got a new windscreen too as it got chipped on the way back from the last FCS)

I've refitted the exhaust using silicone exhaust sealant which has sorted out the leak nicely but I think the exhaust was poorly manufactured as it still has a slight leak from the joint round the cat. (You can hardly hear it from under the car now, which is much better than it was). The mountings for the exhaust have been fabricated using a Halfrauds bracket kit and all I need to do now is get the correct mounts for the cat.

I sorted out the battery tray and used some under body sealant as a basecoat before painting over it. This should help stop any acid erosion of the tray in the future.

Finally I fitted the new Goodridge stainless steel braded brake lines and bled out the system, the brakes don’t feel any different but it's another shiny to add to the list.

I’ve also sent the MOMO’s off to get their powder coat, so I should get them back in a week or so and have them fitted for the FCS.

Only down point is the dent in the bonnet where some twat hit it but I’m on the lookout for a replacement so hopefully that will be sorted before the FCS.

got some pics of the ar with the new wheels on, hope you like them.

yeah, i think they worked out a lot better than people may have thought. 5 spokes are always a safe bet though IMO.

momo arrows are defo one of the all time greats!!

a drop is planned or not? ide personally ditch the 16v badges on the side but that me not you :p

whats next? :)

I'd say not as the car is going up for sale soon mate, but you never know.

tbh I quite like the badges but someone took one off before I got the car, so I might get rid of the other one too. All depends tbh, it's the only thing that lets you know it's the proper F7R megane so I can either have them on to keep that standard or take them off to be a bit more understated. That said, anyone in the know would tell from the exhaust that it's the 2L 16v as K-tec don't make it to fit any other model.

what about the fact the rear windows are electric, body coloured mirrors and it has drums on the rear. That tells you its a 2l

yes chris but they're all verry subtle differences, not in your face like a P1 19 16v and it's body kit. I'm not entirely sure it was only the 2l that have discs though but tbh I never took that much notice of the other models so that may indeed be fact.

All our coupes here had leccy rear windows and body coloured mirrors

Was about to say the same thing, ive not noticed a non 16v coupe without body coloured mirrors. Windows well thats not somthing you will ever notice as you pass one. 16v coupes are great subtle cars, not uber quick but fast enough to supprise average joe's and stupid chavs. A step below a 306 GTI-6 maybe....

If they made a 16v classic (saloon, dunno if they were called that over there) i'd have one.

I do know where theres a scenic going cheap too...needs a conversion!
