21 Turbo Dim/bright head light switching not working.

So, it isn't the end yet. I'm having more and more niggling issues with my 21T.

Today I took the car in for a Warrant of Fitness ( every six months here in NZ ) and I found that I cannot get the lights to go to high beam. They are working because I can flash the lights for someone if the switch is off, like during the day. As soon as I turn the lights on and the low beams come on, the high beam doesn't come on at all and of course, doesn't latch. Pulling the stalk doesn't activate the high beams and they do not even come on.

Has anybody had the same issue? There is a relay in the wiring diagram called the dip relay. I cannot find the location of this relay. It is not under the fuse box.

Please help as the car needs to pass the WOF.

Regards.

I had already opened a switch, which was not similar to the 21's, and there was chaos. It seems like 100 little balls and springs jumped out and disappeared on the floor. The switch was never going to be assembled.

Most likely this is the switch, as said above. Your best bet is to get one from the UK posted over, I dont think I have one but James Taylor probably will have. Ill send it to you if you buy one.

Oh my!! Question time again.

My 21T has an issue with the ABS. The ABS warning light comes on at various intervals. More often than not. Plus the handbrake light comes on when I apply the brakes, even gently, for 5 sec and then goes off. The pedal is high and the brakes are good. Once in while under light braking it feels like gravel under the pedal and there is a strange feeling in the braking action.

I have also noted that at times when the ABS light doesn't turn on, it will come on together with the handbrake light and go off with the handbrake light when the brakes are applied, as mentioned above.

The brake fluid level is okay and the front pads are new, the rear pads are fair to mild however I have a new set on their way.

Hope I can get some more help.

Your ABS target rings have degraded, it thinks one of the wheels is locking up when its not. Most likely the fronts but rears do go as well. Take a look at them, you'll likely be able to see where the ridge definition has corroded away a bit on one (or multiple) target rings.
