Hi all

Does anyone have an information on the dephaser situation. Last time I checked there wasn't any about. I'm getting the cambelt changed soon and mine sound like they are on the way out.

Cheers

Are you sure the Peugeot one fits the Clio v6 engine?
irc...All the dephaser threads have never mentioned them...
Do you have a partnumber for the Peugeot item?

I have just had confirmation that the Peugeot part is exactly the same, but is more expensive!
Scott at SGM has checked them and given his approval..

I will be installing a pair very soon.

Contact Paul at RPD if you require the parts.

The Renault part, which I have waited for now, for over a year, im told will never happen. Renault are all out and have another issue with the tooling for making more!

I suggest everyone orders a pair for the future!

Renault UK did all the investigation work and initially Citroen was sugested. However, it seems now, the Peugeot part is an exact match.
Over £400 each tho!

I suggest everyone picks up the phone to Renault customer services and complains. But first an official order for the parts needs to be placed..

It's taken over a year of continued complaints and failed resolutions to get to this point.

I have even written to their new MD!

It's a long story but basically, this Peugeot part is renaults solution to a now non available part. It is the same part, but yes it is outrageous that one Renault can't make more and two Peugeot want this much!!

When these dephasers go shit street, what actually goes wrong with them? As said above, if it is a small problem on quite an expensive part then why not refurb? Soon or later, refurbished parts will be the only cost effective answer to these rare cars. Why not start looking now?

It seems that dephasers have been the subject of many a discussion, usually about how scarce they are, but the last time I spoke with Scott about these he wasn't too worried about the fact that they are hard to get hold of since Scott was of the opinion that the failure rate was minimal.

As such, it would help to know the following:
1. What are their failure rate like?
2. What are the symptoms when one fails (i.e. how does one know)?

Couple of points -

I thought mine failed previously but dealer checked and was wire connection failure or something that they cleaned up and reconnected

Symptoms are knocking at idle I think especially when cold but it does usually subside to the point it's random at least on my car and nothing to worry about over last few years

I seriously doubt it's a renault Peugeot part it's probably Bosch if someone checks in which case can source cheaper eg lamda sensors are 50 quid direct :)

From above:

Our Price
incl. sales tax: 167.04 € (without sales tax: 140.37 €)
8% cheaper than the ETR !

If this is the same part then does that mean James has just solved this entire messed up situation!

This is getting even more ridiculous, but if James' find above is a solution then there is hope.

Fiat do indeed seem to share the same part number: LINK - Item 8, but it seems to cost circa £400 in the UK! (LINK)
