5 GT Turbo Deadline 9th June 2018

Right, just to keep this going, the car made its deadline!

It was a rather ironic start on the Friday. Friends and Family loaded up cars to take stuff to the wedding for us. We locked up the house, jumped in the car in the garage, quite excited about what was ahead of us. With the turn of the key the battery decided to die................ the wife to be told me to stop being a dick.............she thought I was winding her up! After 30 seconds of panic, I calmed down, we pushed it up the drive and managed to roll it down the road and bump it. Got going and all seemed fine.

Needed to stop for petrol................turn it off, or leave it running?................. turned it off........................................wouldn't start. Second bump of the day from 2 attractive young girls in the petrol station! winner!

Put the windows down.......................they didn't come back up :ca: I do love Renault!

Anyway, the drive there was great, it didn't rain and it was warm, plus the Mrs loved it! This is where the car stayed all weekend!

It started fine on the Friday afternoon (when the windows decided to work) and again on the sunday morning, i'm guessing something on the car is drawing power over time and running the battery down..............i'll get round to sorting it. For now im going to enjoy it, get out to some meets and shows. I have a few things I want to do to the car still. Bigger turbo once its been ran in, sort out the pesky oil leak, change the discs and pads for the hi-specs, the Avo shocks are looking tired, so ill replace and also freshen up the underside of the car over winter. I have several wheels for the car, so ill chop and change as my mood suits. Biggest decision to make is if i loose the decals???

Great stuff, well done for not letting the problems put you off! Nice setting for the pics too.
What's up with the decals, look ok in the pic.

they are blue...............dont know if i'm feeling the love for them anymore, but know ill struggle to get another set made if i want them in the future

Its been a while since I updated this thread........... good news is the cars still going and I'm loving being able to use it again. Since the rebuild its covered around 800 miles. Last year I mainly got the car down to Shelsley Walsh for Sunday breakfast clubs and the Retro Rides show. Other than that its been evening and weekend blasts or a rare trip to my office.

After Christmas, I decided to use a local garage to do some work (this was so I could also finish my garage and I couldn't face dropping the sump). The garage works on an eclectic mix of cars, mainly classics like E Types and AC cobras with a few old race cars. Long story short.....the sump is now fixed, albeit not the first time round, they found a pin hole in the sump which then opened up once hot. Its all sorted now. Whilst the car was with them I got them to sort some electrical gremlins and fix the dreaded fuel tank bung. Unfortunately while the car was with them, they caught the front bumper on the ramps. Annoying yes..................but accidents happen and its fixed now.

Since the last photos, I've fitted some black Williams alloys and a front splitter, I'm already thinking of changing again but thats me! Next on the list are to change out the T2, as I have a T25 sat in the garage that keeps talking to me.

A few photos below, hopefully be out to a few more organised shows this year.
