Got bored so whipped the CATS out of the collector box over the weekend, RS fabrication conversion looses them so I thought why not do the same but to the standard collector , should be no down side as theres no sensors after this box.
Maybe a bit more noise and 1/2 a BHP ?
I just cut though 3 sides of a small square open and cut about 50% of the way though the 4th side to act as a hinge. then lifted the flap up. I found some wading underneath once lifted, carefully removed, dont think it was nasty but better to be careful, under this is the Cat unit, it's a ceramic one, so got a screw driver and broke it up into small bits the would come though the hole I had cut. Once in small bits just poured out the bits in to bin and welded shut the flap, so now its a straight through pipe.
The engines out anyway, so only took 40 mintues to do both sides, worst bit was getting the collector off the down pipes lot of WD40 and waiting and a bit of heat on one stud, 3 nuts came off and on the rest the studs came out with the nut still on them.
cheers
