Afternoon
I have my 5 as my fun bit on the side fun etc but I have a daily driver (vw polo 2004 1.4 petrol auto) it's very dull. I wanted to just put some "16 beetle wheels on as I can get part worns from work and a mate said I could have his 40mm lowering springs. So I thought brilliant it will be less wobbly and look slightly better, but I phoned insurance to get a quote if I was to fit these "modifications" and it would take me from £450 to over £1000 I laughed and said no thanks. I also tried footman James as I have the 5 insured with them and they may try help me out on a newer car policy but no still over £800.
All this has got me thinking why don't I buy another classic car so I can insure it on classic insurance! My question to you lot is with a budget of £1500 what car would you get that was over 20 years old ? can be 3/5 door diesel or petrol but don't want a massive engine so keep it under and including 2.0.
Also don't bother saying don't tell the insurance about mods because I played that game about 10 years ago and was very lucky I did not get my hands burnt.
Cheers Chris
