Cromadora wheels

What do folks think would be a reasonable price for a set of these?

Some on eBay for £3K [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Are they really worth that much?

Rarity will see increasing values.

Do some homework and decide if they are really needed, more than a set of standard 18" PH2 wheels, which look very good on a PH1.

Cheers James,

Needed or not needed I can't see myself paying that for a set of wheels.

Funnily enough I was looking at the set of PH2 wheels that were for sale on here and spent too much time thinking and missed them

These wheels are a major sufferer of the v6 tax, any other size and they sell for about £300 a set!

4 stud

What would be great if is someone made an ally copy of them. Compmotive made replicas for the Escorth Cosworth back in 2011. I think they said minimum of 40 wheels a run, which would mean 2x40 wheels as front and rear are different sizes - ie a commitment of 20 sets.

I recall a price of about £900 a set so a 45k order!!

It's crazy really.

Anyhow, with a bit of luck and a following wind I'll manage to get my hands on a set of PH 2 18s

In my opinion the £3K asking price on EBay is a little optimistic but you have to factor in the rarity of the wheels.
I'm sure I once heard that the Cromodora wheels with Trophy fitment were commissioned by Renault and allocated 4 or 5 sets per race car and not openly for sale to the general public ( Duncan ,may be able to confirm this? ) With many rims becoming damaged / wrote off during the racing series further increased the rarity. So yes they will command a premium for being 'race' car parts but what premium depends on how much you want a set ;)

They do look good though ( in my opinion ) as I've not got 2 sets :rofl: ;

Yes that right, although, after the race series ended, in 2004 Renault made all the remaining brand new wheels available for 1,000 Euros a set. Many of these were sold in France, hence why they are far more common over there and theres quite a few of them in good nick (many wheels that raced took a bit of a pasting!).

very nice but be aware that magnesium does not 'age' well compared to other materials such as aluminium nor is it as easy to repair once it gets aged :approve:

How do the offsets compare to standard wheels? Just curious how they might effect the handling balance of standard cars. :approve:

I don’t think people pay enough attention to this faceylt.
I had magnesium OZs for my Skoda rally car - they were new in 2012 and when I powder coated them in 2015 the pitting and general deterioration of the wheels was shocking once we got the paint off. Ended up dumping 5 wheels that looked fine with the original paint on them.
Find it hard to believe that wheels that are another 10 years older could possibly still be safe to use

I don’t think people pay enough attention to this fact.
