Core plugs

Hi folks. Any of you had any problems with core plugs leaking. Think I have leak from one just below o/s engine mount. Will be an engine out repair so just thought it would be worth doing my homework beforehand. Garage spoke to Renault and they were not surprised and hinted this was not uncommon!

Have only found 1 mention of a core plug issue. Not bad for 11 years of forum posts.

I've never replaced a core plug on a Renault engine in 20 years and several hundred cars... Sounds very unlucky indeed. Have you verified that its the core plug? Get your eyeballs on it before authorising work.

my money would be on the water pump!

Looked back over notes from garage and they state "water leak from behind timing belt" which sounds different from the discussion I had with them on "core plug under engine mount".
Either way it is time to get the engine out and a thorough inspection/service of all relevant bits.
