Coils - Spares

Just got 2 spare coils off e-bay at a good price - around £15 & P&P.

It may be worth checking them out if you want to carry some spares. I am not sure how many more are available.

I believe they are supplied by forum member sidewaysalways ;-)

The markings/numbers on the coils (for anyone wishing to confirm suitability) ...

On the top ... 96 644 018 80
On the top ... Valeo
On the top ... 21595785-5
On the top ... PETP-GF20

On the bracket ... 7-073

On the rubber cap ... 2527329
On the rubber cap ... 42
On the rubber cap ... Sagem Brand Logo (shape of an eye)

Mmmm not sure whether I should get a few? even though mine is still uner warranty from what I've read it seems like a complete ballache trying to these replaced whilst under warranty.....

For the sake of around £20 I think it makes sense to carry at least one - especially if you own a Mk2 - warranty or not.

The inconvenience of one going when you are out on a drive or away from home and having to get recovered or limp the car home (not advised due to possible CAT damage) is just not worth it IMHO.

Replacement on the Mk2 is very simple for all 6 coils, with a Mk1 I believe you can access 3 coils easily - the other 3 not so.

I suppose the recovery firm i.e. AA or RAC, could fit the spare you have - which is a bonus for anyone not confident to do it DIY.

I think it makes sense at this price :approve:

Mines is still under warrenty but i just cant be doing with all the hassle and
anxious moments while the stealers are dealing with it :(

Yup I'm sold, £20 for minimal inconvenience sounds like a bargain to me,

Thanks K1ano

Now where's that link gone? Seems to have disappeared..... also has anyone actually tested these ebay coils yet?

I'm off to the local Peugeot Dealership this afternoon to buy a pair (£23.76 each). Mines under warranty and Renault will change them FOC but lets face it, if a coil goes, it will be on a saturday afternoon, probably on a bank holiday weekend!

Yes that's about right, the only time many of us use our Vees i.e at weekends ;-)

Don't forget though to keep the coil post poll updated if you have to replace one ...

Cheers Martin :approve: I'd totally agree - I'm going to get myself a spare coil for when the "inevitable" happens [smilie=icon_salut.gif]
