CLUTCH

Driveshaft/circlip sounds possible and is quite common, also check fluid levels in the shared brake/clutch reservoir at the front of the car as low levels can cause clutch/engagement issues ...

Also I believe the slave cyclinders are prone to leaking and losing fluid/contamination but this is inside the bell housing so the clutch would need to be done anyway as it's a gearbox off job.

easy to check, stick the car in second gear (engine off, clutch up) and turn the key, if it starts and drives in gear then its not the diff

CHRIS IS ON IT WAYNE (OR WILL BE SOON (I HOPE)).......DOING IT AT MINE......GIVE ME A BELL WHEN YOUVE GOT 5 ( I HAVNT GOT YOUR NUMBER)

Car now sorted.........was nt the clutch afteralll,................. It was a broken circlip on the driveshaft as mentioned in this link. I have had the clutch replaced aswell as it had been "slipping" as per i reported. Also had the front pads replaced. All this was done in my garage at my house by Chris Bell at a very reasonable price.
The main reason for this post is Chris.................If anyone needs ANY work to their Renault i would HIGHLY recommend Chris. He knows them inside out as he used to work for a Renaultsport dealer.
If anyone wants his number you can PM me.(Wayne /looch also knows him)
