clutch fooooked

Wouldn't mind fitting an uprated part myself. Ive got a feeling there isn't much out there unfortunatly.

Better the clutch take the battering rather then the gearbox, stick with the renault one and drive slower [smilie=icon_cyclops_ani.gif]

Thats not a bad point to make Simon. Thinking about it, mine only ever slips when too many revs are used off the line. I keep mine nice and low now. Just enough to stop it bogging down.

It's basically been stated before on the RS forum by Renault that clutch was designed to be the weaker point to protect the gearbox!

Maybe get the pressure plate modified to apply more clamping pressure and use a standard friction plate or have a standard plate recondition with improved material ... I am sure you can speak to a clutch manufacturer Ray about this if it becomes an option ?

From memory Ray a friend of mine gave a clutch company a call, think it was AP, and they re-conditioned his twin plate Lotus clutch at a much reduced cost v a new one. It may be that a different friction material (non organic) on the stock plate may do the trick but guess it's upto you again as you are the one with the requirement.

If it slipped purely because you used to many revs to get it off the line then I wouldn't go as far as saying there's anything wrong with it. If you pull off at normal engine speed (ie around 1250-1500rpm), and then it slips i'd say a new plate might be on the cards. I might be wrong, but in mine feels quicker off the mark if I don't use anything above 1700 rpm to get going.....not only that though either, it looks stupid with a dirty great OMG howling away before you even move.
