Club membership information

SPIKE,

This is what a non paid member sees. No Cars or Parts for sale. Not much at all.

We don’t do merchandise anymore.

We are going secure with SSL certificate. Forum may be down for a wee bit this weekend.

I’ve spent all yer money.

We are switching to secure SSL tonight. So we will be Https://v6clio.net (you should be redirected automagically)

When we have finished, you should see the “Not Secure” notice at the top address bar less often, and only where there is content posted on our forum which is from a non secure website.

Some web browsers may tell you there is some content which is not secure, that will be your choice to allow it. (Usually this is only pictures from other places)

James, when I click on links contained in emails received from posts I have subscribed to (or posted a reply to) the resulting URL is not SSL enabled |(i.e. no HTTPS), so the automatic redirect does not seem to work.

The SSL is not fully installed yet. (Something about redirecting to the Https version & browser caching needs to be sorted)

Understood. Looks like SSL is enabled only if one specifically uses HTTPS to launch v6clio.net (and have saved them as Favourites), but not when 'system generated' URLs are used, such as those in the email notifications one receives.

EDIT: Although the certificate is active not all parts of the site is fully secure.

It’s better now, there may still be some historical http links etc posted around the forum.

Smilies or even someone’s signature may change the page to no padlock.

Firefox browser highlights these better.

Ensure your browser is current. ;)

Since the sudden drop in membership caused by a frenzy of owners selling their Vees and naturally moving on, forum membership is climbing.

Currently 230 paid members. 19 more members since March.

Good news :)

Indeed. The new changes have seen a swifter increase in Forum membership.

The pattern of rising and falling numbers has happened a few times with selling frenzies.
Phase 1s will once again be £10K and Phase 2s £12K then it will rocket up again no doubt.

Totally agree with everyone that £10 is very cheap

Best advice my mate gave me to join the forum when I was looking at getting a V6, and within a month I’d sourced and agreed a deal on my Ph1 :)

The usual pattern with members.
Since November 2019 approx’ 30 members expired and didn’t renew, a mixture of sold up and moved on or had just paid to get full access to the forum.
Our knowledge base sees most traffic. I hope to expand and improve it.

Current paid forum members is 294

There are always 2 dummy members, these are used to test forum permissions, they jump between paid-member and forum-user status depending on what we are testing.

A good healthy number.
How can more be encouraged to join? I am a member of other clubs, one being the Sunbeam club, and whilst there is a club magazine there are very few other benefits for your twenty quid. Any organized runs come with a fee. One very famous motorcycle run is the Pioneer Run, this one run attracts over 650 entrants at £40 a pip!

It's easy to forget what goes on behind the scene, many thanks James and all the team.

Well arranging the occasional show makes things a lot easier on us. Dulan sorted most of Silverstone out, as it was a milestone year for the car. Keeping the forum available is our main task these days, a rise in values saw many sales and resulted in many fewer club members, all the ‘club’ was stuff faded out.

Basically, the forum is kept afloat, and folk still meet up places when they fancy doing that.
