James,

the difference between £5-00 and £10-00 to most people is insignificant but doubling your income would be very significant, I would propose that people should pay £10-00, to me it is worth every penny!! £10-00 is less than 3p per day, what value! [smilie=yay.gif]

Thanks James for that information. useful to know. Please remind me which bits of the club site we keep only for paid members to try and get people to join.
They can not access the register (the important bit for people researching cars obviously) or send or receive private messages? anything else?
thanks

At £10, V6Clio.net would still, comfortably, be the cheapest club that I would be in (and I am in a few)!

When you consider the information that I was able to obtain to quickly help me to decide to buy my Vee, the interesting stuff that there is to read about the cars, the pointers to make running one easier and the friends that I have made since joining, I would have no issue with a raised membership fee at this level.

Many Thanks to all involved in providing this.

Simon

Agreed £10. Recently looked at joining the Mercedes Benz Club UK and that was something like £40. Even that would not put me off if the benefits are worth it, for example they have an excellent presence at many shows and a great stand at the NEC Classic Car show last year which was drawing a huge amount of interest. I came away from that show thinking that was a club that had really got their act together, no doubt the combination of enthusiastic members and plenty of money in the kitty from membership. I'm not actively looking for a Merc right now but I'd have no issues forking out £40 or so when it comes to the time as that would be the place to find the best cars, rather than trawling though ebay ads etc. In the grand scheme of things, how much do you spend on your car purchase and ownership? Club membership at pretty much any price is a drop in the ocean comparatively.

You could join TurboRenault for free :) (We're standing by in the background to host this site should the need ever arise btw!)

James, yes, I know, I can **** off :) but there's a safety net there at least lol

I think raising the price from £5 to £10 wouldn't be beneficial as there is not much demand to join the club anyway and we could see paid members dropping in the future.

For all of us who think it's worth more than £5, then there is an existing option to make a donation to the club.

I tend to agree with Sarria on this and historically have chucked a few more quid in the pot.

As a long-term owner, I would be happy to pay a further honorarium to develop the site further. I think there could be a register of known wombled spare parts (photographed) or detailed supply chain options.. This would be a hellish amount of work but would make future ownership far less intimidating.

Maybe that could be ‘membership plus’ and include the register? Say £40/annum.

I wouldn't object to £10 but I think what James is saying is that the £5 more than covers the annual cost. So unless we want to expand into something more ? The £5 fee is ok for now.

James,
Agree totally if fees were to go up to 10 quid, its a couple of pints, however do think the info available to non members needs to be restricted a little more to encourage membership.
One point in particular is allowing non members to see parts for sale (I nearly said private parts, but you know what i mean) but not allowing private messages to give more encouragement to join thus allowing access to buy said parts, this would benefit us all, also allow club paraphernalia like shirts and such to be viewed and purchased by non members but at less of a discount, this could promote the club particularly if purchasers see a 25% (Random guess number) saving by being a member.
If There is a glut of money at the end of the day how about a donation to a known charity of the Presidents choice, say 20% of the excess. I am sure this option would be welcomed by most of us and again is good profile for the club.

Spike.
