I placed an order last week for a hand tailored outdoor cover from Specialised Covers-The Origional Cover Company in Yorkshire.www.specialisedcovers.com
Cover in 3 layer Dark Blue Avantec material with Renault Diamond Logo & Clio V6 Lettering was £228 delivery inc and a delivery of 3 weeks from order.
They also have 2 indoor tailored covers either sateen silicone finish in 6 colours or thick cotton/polyester with fleecy lining in 11 colours( premier range )
They are happy to send brochure and samples on request.
All covers are UK made.
I was going to use covercraft but they never answer the phone and waited so long to reply to me i lost interest and went elseware.
Pity as they had more compact high tec materials but at a higher cost.

Thanks for the additional information Tom. Didn't manage to contact Specialised today - same issue as Covercraft for you! Looks like a similar deal with 10% off for the GB and if we can agree the Clio V6 lettering/logo shouldn't be an issue either. just have to find another three people now that Kett is in and we're away.

It's a tricky business this... each firm will offer slight variations in:
quality of material
measure of fitting
price
quality of logo detail

The saving grace is that you've (Andy) had first hand experience of these products.
I know there are many colour options, but I (for one) am only concerned with authenticity in the logo design.

The Renaultsport logo was in transition during 2004, as a new logo with the SPORT in upper-case was on the scene.

Prior to that the colour logo with sport in lower-case was used. This is representive of the Mk I era.

To my mind, a mono-tone version of the lower-case logo best represents the Mk II (and would be appropriate for any Mk I owners on this GB).

Good call. We'll see what everyone want if (or when) some more of the thirteen who expressed interest back in the day pop back onto the thread and sign up with us! Doesn't seem any issue with making them slightly different if people want unique embroidery of some sort though.

I'm still in for a cover..!

Would it be possible to get a full break down of cover options/layers etc and for which applications each cover is more suited to. Garaged - non garaged for example.

Just dug out my V6 brochures...
From the 3 logo designs posted up by Kett, I think I'd only really be interested in the first one as I beleive this to be the more appropriate for the 255, as it was used in the V6 brochure dated April 2004. The one befrore this dated March 2003 no Renault Sport logo was present. The only trace was of the logo embroidered in to the seat, as Ketts logo 3.

:D

Hi Guillaume. The GB is only going to work if we have five people who want the same cover as the economy of scale for the manufacturer comes from cutting and sewing them at the same time. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor options from all manufacturers so I plumped for the highest quality fabric for indoor use partly out of selfishness (that's what I want!) partly from experience (it's what we used at Bentley and Aston Martin when I ran motorshows for them and they are the kindest to paint) and lastly because my experience of outdoor so called breathable covers was poor when I had a Lancia Integrale that had to stay outside when I had no garage.

There are some disadvantages to the stretch covers versus the straight flannel if you have them in a very dusty environment because the stretch covers have a more open weave than the straight flannel when they are stretched over the car. That said most of us have our cars in a domestic garage where this is not really an issue. Flannel also only comes in 2 colours (grey/beige) versus 20 and the form-fit nature of the stretched cover just looks more pleasing to my eye at least. I am happy to look at other options if five people want a breathable/outdoor cover - I'll wait and see how much interest we can muster for any type of cover first.

Look again chief! I've got lowercase "sport" (as in logo 3) on: My seats, steering wheel, tailgate and plaque. [smilie=icon_cyclops_ani.gif]

I'm after a indoor cover and am happy for you to make the call, you obviously know your onions.

Hi Kett,
Yes, you're right ofcourse. But by this stage of production, as you also quite rightly pointed out, Renault were revamping logos, and the brochures were updated to the new corperate logo of no1 around the dates of our vehicles. Sure both no1 and no3 would be suitable to the 255, I just liked the look and the colours of no1.. lol  Also, "if" these covers were available from Renault at the time our cars were bought, no 3 would've been seen to have been old stock and no1 new.. :D
But hey, we're kinda splitting hairs here. No1 would possibly be more expensive to produce due more than one colour being in the design, so I'm keeping an open mind on the whole thing.

I'd have to agree with you here fella. Indoor cover for me too. Although in adverce weather conditions, the roof of my garage sometimes lets the odd drip of water onto the car, would this be a problem for the indoor cover?

Andy, you certainly seem to know what you're talking about, and I'm happy to go with your recomendations.

I forgot about the "mammoth" one on the sills too!
Incidently, only my steering wheel one has the 3 lines underneath - so perhaps the following is the most representative:

I have to agree with Shaun that the "newer" logo is more pleasing to the eye...

I might de-badge my Vee. ;)

However being sensible for a moment......... Does the car cover fold up fit inside the car in a small package/bag? If so then count me in for an outdoor cover.

Do you want a cover though Ali :D We should be able to have individual logos if they have artwork but we need the five to make it happen and then we can discuss individual colours/logos directly with Classic Additions.

James - the covers come in a duffel bag much like a sleeping bag stuff sack so would go in the csar (although as we all know there isn't a lot of room in a Vee!) Once we know numbers I'll ask about being able to split between indoor and outdoor covers if we don't have five of each (which I rather doubt we will).

Haven't looked into outdoor covers yet because there didn't seem to be that much interest from previous posts. If there is I can find out some prices but the specs vary a lot more than the indoor ones and the cost spread is higher. The custom covers are only available in the lightweight fabrics from what I've read and seem to be around £200. Again we'd need five for the GB to work - with James that's two so far. I'll ask if we can mix the two fabric types but it didn't sound promising before. Never say never though.

Hi all. I've been following this to see whether we are getting any closer to five people and it doesn't look like it right now :( . I've added my details which are as follows:

1. Astonandy- Indoor, blue, renaultsport logo as Kett whatever everyone agrees is best!
2. James- Outdoor
3. Ozbird-
4. Kett- preferably Indoor, light grey, renaultsport logo as demanded by peer group
5. Clarkeeuk99-
6. Guillaume-
7. Ali-

We should let it run for a little bit longer but not much beyond the end of the week I would say. If we get five mixed covers (indoor/outdoor) I'll approach the makers to see if they would give us the discount for different materials. Have to say it won't be a deal-breaker for me if we don't achieve the 10% as I really need the cover as I ride my bike every day and its next to the Vee in the garage and a cover would make me feel a bit better edging by!

Everyone in agreement that we'll leave it until June 1st and then draw a line?

Andy
