preRS Clio Clio I electric nightmare

So I lost the radiator fan. It wouldn't spin, and my engine was getting quite hot.

Alright! No problem! Let's have a look inside the engine's fusebox.
But... there's no fuse. No pins, either.
Well, but the sticker says it's supposed to be here, bottom-left fuse.
The heck?

Okay, let's take everything apart. Maybe the pins fell inside the case? Who knows.

Well... there are no pins. There are no cables coming from the harness, either. And everything seems original. No cables cut or anything.

Okay, let's have a look in the dashboard fusebox. Maybe the info I have is wrong.

Oh. This doesn't look good.

This really doesn't look good.

I can't open the cover. Weird.

Oh, there's a bolt in the dash trim. Maybe it is holding the cover in place. Let's remove that.

Oh my goodness:

It fell to the floor. By removing a single bolt. That wasn't meant to be there in the first place.

Wiring looks good, though:

I removed and reinserted every fuse and relay I could find.
My radiator fan works now.
My windshield washer pump doesn't
Neither do my rear window wiper.

Time to have a look at that mess again.

Wiring looks normal for a renault of that era. Probably disturbed something when pulling fusebox out. A lot of the issues on the older renaults are poor connections however cant complain at 20+ years from new

What surprised me wasn't the factory wiring, it's how badly it's been taken care of by previous owners/electricians.

It has loads of badly made wiring joints, with no electrical tape, little tape or simply bad quality tape peeling off of the wires, and the way that fusebox is "held" in place is beyond belief.

That screw holds it close to the dash, but all the load is being carried by the wiring harnesses.

I admire the determination.
Are you actually in Brazil?
If theyre not there on a UK mot they cant be tested/failed.
Yes, I am actually in Brazil.

The brazilian MOT (Inspeção/Vistoria Veicular) works on a "if you have it, it has to work" basis. So, if you don't have fender-mounted blinkers, no problem. If you have them, they have to work.
If you don't have rear wipers, no problem. If you have them, they have to work.
If you have a pickup truck with two spare tyres (I've seen some with one in either side of the truck's bed), both of them have to be good to go.

Yeah just cap the pump and unplug it haha.
They will be just as hard as any other wiring. In theory fairly easy as long as your logical about it.
Judging by the bodges you have found its probably on a shared earth or something.
