Cheep mk2 V6 if its straight and not clocked !!!

Congrats on the purchase... As to whether it's stolen/recovered - does this come up on a hpi report?

Good luck restoring it to it's former glory, the challenge will be painting the grilles sufficiently so that the silver doesn't show through in the event of stone chips.

Good luck either way. Im guessing your mileage suspicions were brought about by melted steering wheels?

No. One of my m8's is top tech at reno and he came to see some of the cars with me, with a computer from his work, to check for any fault's logged and millage for me, as he say's a few come in mainly Now only for cam belt change's and when they plug them in sometimes the millage is different to the clock's, and a couple we looked at had wrong millage on the clock's, apparently there are few places that the millage is logged on these car's , not just the clock's

So are you selling or keeping?

well if I got the right offer, Im sorry to say but unfortunately I would sell, as every car has got it's price and if I can make a little bit of moneyon it, then it will give me more toward's a newer one in liquid yellow I'm not expecting to get the listing price my wife put on pistonhead's

No it doesn't show on any HPI list as it isn't recorded as a stolen recovered car like a lot do, most will get a cat D against them

I'm looking forward to it arriving tomorrow so I can give it a good clean and see what I need to do to it, I no the rear bumper has scratches as you can see on the pictures and if it take a full respray to make it mint then Ill get my M8 to respray it for me, the only problem is he will only fit it in when he has a spare slot, so this could be a while (m8' rate's) amd he owes me some favors'
the grills will get a good prime with etch primer so it key's well but at least with it been silver when rubbed down it will only look like primer if it does get a few stone chip's
can I ask any of you guy are your grill's painted or just straight plastic out of the mold

also can any one give me any idea on what the car was like before it was stolen, and what it has had done to it in regards to any mods' if any, or anyone seen it in the flesh

I'm sure some of you no or knew the member (james) I think, who used to own it at the time it was stolen, I'm trying to get hold of him, I've PM'ed him but it looks like it a long while since he was last on here and messaged the guy on pistonheads thread to try and get a contact number or his full name will an address so I can try and trace him that way, I just want to no if he still has anything that was to do with the car and ask him if there was any problem's with the car

many thanks guy;s

Best of luck with the car, your never know when you collect it tomorrow you may be completely taken by it and want to keep it forever.

I want to keep it, its my wife that wants rid of it before it come's ( only 2 seat) when we have 2 kids and 8 dogs, but I like my toy's, Ive just bought her a newer freelander so this is my little toy
I've always said I would get one, its not as new as I would like, but my R32 was a 2008 and going back to a 2003 she says it going back and not forward into a newer car, Im hoping its not so bad, I don't mind respraying it so it looks like new again, I hope engine is ok, but its not the end of the world if its knackered I can get another one cheap enough and prob with less miles, I might be a happy bunny tomorrow and like a dog with to dicks !!!! [smilie=yay.gif] or a little pissed off [smilie=doubt.gif]

I'm not sure if K-tec would give me any details ( data protection )or something like that

I might sound a little bit like a nob here but I was thinking of trying to fit an 182 engine under the bonnet, has anyone ever heard of this or done this, or would this be a daft thing to think about,

Yes as Matt said " What???"

I don't no if you thinking down the same lines as what I was, is to add another engine under the bonnet and try and get both engines working together which would make it 4 wheel drive and a lot more of the mark acceleration
not remove the engine that is in it a reduce the power, a friend of mine a while back had a mk 1 golf the had 2 engine's in it, it was in all the mag's like max power etc,

is this what you guys thought I was meaning ?????

Yea I thought thats what you meant, 2 different power engines... cant see its worth all the effort for what may or may not actually work very well anyway??

Your time, your car, your call - it wouldnt be for me though

Ok point taken, I may leave it, It was just when my mate had his golf I remember it was like a rocket, but I remember it was a right load of trouble getting both to work together, what have people done to gain more power out of there cars, 255bhp just doesn't seem a lot for a car that looks like these do, I may change my mind when it come's

This has been a head shaking thread, on so many levels!! I've still got a video of this car doing burnouts from 2004!!! It's had a seriously hard life!!

Good luck with what ever route you take...

Reg Transfers & New Reg are websites which you can advertise the plates on. They take commission but will do all the work for you. Also quite handy for getting an approx value at retail (don't expect those prices if selling privately)

Alternatively would be to sell it privately but you'll need to put the plate on retention first...if selling privately then consider eBay/Pistonheads Classifieds.

All in all the no. plate market is pretty dead atm so unless you're willing to give it a way then it may be better to hang on to it or leave it on the car as a potential sweetener for new purchaser. :approve:

Someone called Thomas Unwin Yoshino. Might make you a better offer for it or perhaps dyslexic toy shop owner.

Ive been offered £500 from one of these company's that sell private reg's theres one on ebay thats £1995 ish and cant see what it would mean apart from V6 (V6VSU) and £899 for V6MLR, not saying this is worth any thing like them, but what can you see these plats say apart fro just V6, cheers guy

V6 prefix registrations are available from DVLA for £399 - Zillions of them! Most of the fun ones have gone though... ;)
Why not buy a stack of them and sell them to the dealer for a tidy profit?
