I have to press the button on my fob about 4-5 times to open the car at the moment, does this mean the battery is going?

IMO range of operation is a better judge of battery strength.

ok well it doesn't work when i'm any further than a meter away, which also I would have thought suggests it's near dead.

I had a similar problem with mine and it was a dry joint on the conector, just went over it with a soildering iron all fine now.

Dry joint? Is that in the fob?

Does anyone know what batteries they take off the top of their head?

Open the bloody thing up and you will found out.

Available from Halfords

Cannot remember the number from 12 months ago

Old and senile

Sounds stupid but I can't open mine haha I tried to open it already but I feel like i'm going to bust it totally.

They slide open dont try prising it, dont worry if you do bust the case you can always get a new one of ebay there always on there and its the same as the key plip.
