Cat back system, or just back box?

Quicksilver or Prospeed custom sound like the top options.

To me this shouts.... GROUP BUY!.... Discount! 8)

Who's in?

Responce from Quicksilver

Dear Peter,
Thank you for your email.

Yes we do a system for the Clio V6 mk2. The system is runs from the cat, and is manufactured with 304 grade stainless steel. The system provides a ‘throatier’ and more engaging sound throughout the rev range, and we have had very favourable feedback from our customers. The cost for a new system is £690 pounds plus VAT with delivery estimated at about 3 weeks from ordering.

All QuickSilver systems and silencers are designed and manufactured specifically for the model and come with our Twenty Five Year Corrosion Guarantee.

Please contact me directly with any further questions you may have.

Yours sincerely

My responce

Both myself and a number of v6 owners (who have been discussing buying new exhausts via "v6clio.net") are looking into this. Please confirm that the exhaust is cat back? The clio V6 has dual cats (one per cylinder bank) which then connect via pipes to a collector box before the back box. Are you saying this system for £690+VAT swaps out the collector box and the connecting pipes. That would be a full cat back system. I am guessing the system you are referring to is in fact just a back box.

Also do you have any promotional pictures of the system?

Thanks

Peter

Nice one Peter. I'd be in for an exhaust system of some description - Quicksilver or Pro-Speed. At the moment I'd favour ProSpeed as you can request virtually any setup - still waiting for Charlie to email me back.

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your reply.

I’ve looked into this system, and for the system for the Clio V6 we supply the back box as you indicated. I’ve attached two images of the system as supplied.

I hope this helps with your inquiry. Please let me know if you would like any additional information.

Kind regards,
James

I'll post the pics they sent me....

Looks good. I'll mail them later asking for a group buy discount!

I have mailed Quicksilver to ask if they would consider offering a bulk discount as part of a group buy.

I found this from an enquiry I made a while back:-

EVO%20-%20Sport%20Clio%20V6.jpg

Tony Bailey was covering a high mileage commuting in his Clio V6 from Devon to Surrey and so, for his use, the system was a bit loud in mid-range.

We did change the design to produce a crisper sound at higher rpm without so much bass at low and medium revs – so this should suit your motorway driving also.

We originally worked with Whitehouse Garage in Beckenham to develop these but I think that they have now gone, so I cannot recommend anyone in your area. It is a straightforward fit and so any competent garage can install this.
Kind regards

Paul

Rock on!!!!!

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply.

In regards to providing a discount for a bulk order, yes we would be happy to offer a reduction in price for multiple systems. In order to provide the discount, we would need to have an order made by one or more linked individuals at roughly the same time as it is cheaper for us to make multiple systems at a time, as opposed to individual production. If you could agree with enough people to place an order for at least 3 systems, we could provide a 20% discount over the original price of £690. This would give a total for each unit of £552 plus VAT. If we could push the quantity ordered to 5 or more, then we can give you a 30% reduction bringing the cost down to £483 plus VAT. Please be advised we generally offer free shipping in the UK, however if someone is ordering from abroad or from a fairly remote area there would be a delivery charge.

I hope this helps with your persuasions of the group. As an Elise owner I know how helpful other owners can be in trying to make these types of decisions and trying to find the best deals.

Best regards,

James

We only need 3 for 20% discount! Me and JJ are 2... Or we could maybe get 5 for 30% 8) 8) 8)

Peter :D

Sounds like a very good offer. It's a top box, I used to have one, and if you can get 5 of you interested you wipe out the price and bring it more into line with some other boxes available.

Me neither. Two tyres on the rear today, the fronts have hardly any left in them, front pads last week, rears in a few weeks, clutch is slipping, needs a service in June and the fibreglass on the rear bumper and wheelarch sorting out and respraying.

James, can you suspend Peter from posting? Or even ban him?

I moved to the Janspeed decat full system. I had removed the cats already but the original manifolds and collector box all add to stifle the gases from escaping freely. The Janspeed manifolds and downpipes wouldn't match up with the original Renault backbox (or the Quicksilver obviously).
The new system should allow a little more power overall.

Yes, the Quicksilver used to snap, crackle and pop even with the cats in place..........
sounds much deeper and louder.

Thanks. Sounds ideal for most of us. I take it that the Quicksilver is a lot better sounding than the K-Tech then. I really wish I hadn't looked at this thread.

Am I right in thinking with this backbox you just unbolt the old one and bang the new one on?

Sounds like it could be a fairly simple job.

What's the difference then ?

As I understand it the Mk2 box is better made and free-er flowing than the Mk1, plus a little louder/deeper sounding.

The Quicksilver box will bolt straight on I believe. Peter and I are considering a deal with them where we turn up and (hopefully) they'd fit the systems to all those who were in the group buy. Should make for a good day out and a noisier return home
