CARBON FIBRE SIDE PODS **(ARRIVED)** Pictures!!

That's something I hadn't thought of James.
Mike and I don't use them so it didn't occur. I'll check again with Scott who actually has odd pods on his Mk2, one is Mk1 the other Mk2, Maybe he has both with plastic grills.......

****UPDATE****

Mk2 plastic grills would NOT fit back into Mk1 pods so anyone interested would need to replace theirs with mesh as per the Mk1 or leave it out altogether as some of us have already done.

Ideally we want to get just one mould made to keep the cost down. (read first post)

If someone donates Mk2 pods we can use them on Mk1 cars.

We have Mike's Mk1 pods available which is why we planned to use them for the mould.

JJ,

Scott's has a Mk2 pod on one side and a Mk1 on the other. Both pods fit both cars. The plastic grill in the Mk2 pods will not fit in the Mk1 pod though, so if we get a mould based on Mk1 pods then Mk2 owners would need to replace their plastic grills with mesh which can be cut/shaped easily.

TRW1 - how did you contact MVS? I tried to contact them so they could repair mine but got no response from the e-mail i sent.

Keep us posted about the pods.

Steve

Hi sorry you didnt get your email reply regarding your damaged car, we wanted to see photos of the damage.
If you want to get hold of us our email is [email protected].

Thanks Mike. Just curious how a Mk1 vent is going to look on a Mk2. Can Scott oblige with some photos?

*******UPDATE******* ********UPDATE*******

I've had an email from MVS who are following this thread.
Our initial problem has been covering the cost of the mould for the first buyers. MVS are offering to cover that cost themselves if we can get 4 or more people to commit at £160 per pair. I think that's a fair offer.
Unless anyone wants to donate Mk2 pods we will use Mike's Mk1 pods for the mould and Mk2 owners who fit them would need to replace their plastic grills with mesh or leave them open as some of us already have.

Can those that are interested please confirm so.
Thanks
Tim

Sorry guys. Count me out. :(

Just had a service, new pads all round going in on Monday, and a new ECU map on the horizon.

What with the snowboarding trip  on the plastic, I can't stretch to this. :(

Hope you get the numbers tho. :D

Peter

I will most certainly buy a pair. Might not fit them to my MK2 but count me in to get this group buy going.

Many thanks for your efforts with this Tim.

The handbook recommends cleaning out the side intakes regularly. I used to do this on my MK 1 but I gave up as the wire mesh became a right mess after a while.

Thanks guys, that's 4 so far including me so I'll get in touch with MVS and see how we proceed.
Anyone else that's interested just add your name..........

I have a spare L/H mk 2 pod if its of any help to ya (Dont ask why) . not that i want the carbon pods my self .

But a carbon fiber engine cover could tempt me
