Car Fest 2013

Williams

New Member
Following our enquiry, I have received an application form for Chris Evans' "Children In Need", Car Fest 2013, both North and South! We need to act fast on this, as in, I need to gauge interest and get back to them ideally by the end of the week please..!

Car Fest North will be held at Oulton Park this year, whilst Car Fest South will be returning to Laverstoke Park Farm following the success of its debut year last year.

There is a £450 entry fee PER EVENT and this includes:
- Each club will be allocated seven car spaces for a club stand
- A total of 14 passes (two passes per car) which allow each entry on each of the three days of CarFest (nb these passes can be exchanged, via the Car Club co-ordinator, to those only coming for one or two days)
- Complimentary Camping pitch for the Car Club co-ordinator (nb club member camping pitches can be bought for £25 per night in the Crew Camping area)
- *3m x 3m gazebo (we do not accept club stand structures, flags or branding)
- £50 donation to Children in Need

Car Fest NORTH 2nd- 4th August

Car Fest SOUTH 23rd - 25th August

If there is anyone that attended Car Fest 2012, perhaps you could give us some feed back below..!?!

So.. if you think this is a show you'd like to attend, please could you show your interest below and indicate which days you wish to attend. :salut:

FAQ:
Do I have to attend the full 3 days?
No. Members can attend any of the 3 days. So please feel free to come or one or two days. However, there are only 7 car spaces for each day. The attendee list above shows the days for event event and attendees.

Can I come for just 1/2 a day?
No, Each car attending will require a pass to get into the grounds and as a club, we will be issued with only enough passes for 7 vehicles. It would be a logistical nightmare to coordinate the issuing a collection of these passes throughout the day. If you are going to attend, it would be for a whole day.

How much does the event cost?
The cost of the event is £540 for the North and another £540 for the South. This is made up of £450 for the event + VAT and includes a £50 donation to Children in Need

How much will it cost me?
The cost per member will calculated as follows: £540 divided by the total number of days attended by all members. This gives the “daily cost” per member. Then simply multiple the daily cost by the number of days you are attending. We have put together a spreadsheet to show this and it will be kept up-to-date. The more people that attend, the cheaper it will be. Note that with the maximum of 7 vehicles per day, the very cheapest it will be is £25.71 per day (£540 / 21 vehicles)

Is it value for money?
Yes! Given that for the public a Friday ticket is £55 and a Saturday or Sunday ticket is £60, the cost to us is less than half-price.

Is there camping available?
Yes, If you would like to camp overnight then as club we get 1 complimentary pitch in the Crew Camping area. It is yet to be decided who gets the complimentary pitch whilst still being fair to everyone. Additional pitches in the Crew Camping area will cost £25 + VAT per night. Camping it available on the Thursday (12pm / lunchtime onwards) for exhibitors.

What facilities are available on the camp site?
Each pitch is 6m x 6m accommodating up to 6 people per pitch. Facilities include access to water, showers, toilets, sanitary and refuse disposal.

Will my car be safe overnight if I'm camping?
Yes, Cars can be left securely and safely on the exhibitor stand overnight if you are camping.

Do I have to/can I leave my car there all weekend/overnight if I'm lucky enough to do consecutive days?
Yes, you can leave your car on the club stand overnight if you are attending on consecutive days.

Can I drive my car home at night?
Yes, if you are attending consecutive days, you still have the option of driving away at the end of the day and returning the following day.

What time can I leave?
Please try and make it for as much of the full day as possible. We'd have some disgruntled members if someone left at lunchtime when someone else on the reserve list was keen to attendee for the full day.

What are the opening & closing times for the public?
Both NORTH and SOUTH event opening/closing times for the public are:
Friday: 12:00 to 22:30
Saturday: 10:00 to 23:00
Sunday: 10:00 to 22:00

What are the opening times for the exhibitors?
Both NORTH and SOUTH event opening times for the exhibitors are:
Thursday: 14:00 and 19:00. (If camping: 12:00 onwards, but would suggest 14:00 onwards)
Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Between 08:00 and 10:00
Subject to confirmation from event organisers

Can my second ticket come in another car? For example my wife and the kids.
This has been confirmed with the event organiser now and the answer is Yes. There are 2 adult tickets issued per vehicle on the club stands. These must be exchanged for wrist bands at the event. Note that children aged 5 and under are admitted free. Children 6 to 14 required a child's ticket.

How do I get into the event
We will be issued with tickets - 2 per vehicle on the club stand. These must be exchanged for wrists at the gate and need to be worn for the during of your visit. Although we haven't got tickets yet, we have to complete a form with a list of names of all attendees. The assumption is that there will be individual tickets per person per day.

I have more questions...
You can post your questions to this thread. There are also more general FAQs on the event websites: NORTH FAQs and SOUTH FAQs.

I'd be very interested in the North one, but would it require attendance over the 3 days fully to display the car? That could be tricky

Sounds pretty good..............did hear how well this went down in 2012, so should be even better this year.

I'd be interested in the NORTH but only for a days visit - do you have to commit to the full 3 days ????

Cheers again,
Hoogi

It sounds like only 7 cars can be on the stand, but any 7 can be there on any day. So with a bit of organising, we could take it in turns to do a day if thats how people want to play it.

I went for the full weekend at the south one last year, but on Friday the main areas were not open and you couldnt get to see any of the cars or displayed. It was more just a set up day. I would imagine that to be similar this year. Sat & Sunday are the main days.
The field for the car displays, whilst to one side, was between the auction house and the pits so was in the thick of it, without people being all over the cars.
It was all closed off to the campers over night so they would be perfectly secure to leave them there for all 3 days. Also, the crowd were radio 2 listeners so the chance of something happening to your car couldnt be more remote!!

Im definately up for going again this year. Even if only to see the group B cars flying up the hill again - BTW at the south one, the hill was very small so dont expect too much from the track action. It might be better at the north one considering the location.

There is loads to do there and you could easily spend 2 full days being fully entertained, and its perfect for families so bring your nippers.

Put me down as a yes please Shaun for the South one.

I went to the South one last year and it was a good event although it was torrential rain and a mud bath!!

14 tickets at £450 seems good value @ £32 per ticket comapred to the £60 or so usual cost.

It's basically a Food show / Car show /Concert and quite good for the family, well Sarah liked it and wants to go back.

There is a massive marquee with loads of food and cake stalls. Not really much in the way of car club displays last year but enough to wander around for a day and the auction was pretty good.

Bands were The Feeling, Counterfeit Stone, Texas on the day I went.

It's 7 cars per stand to tie in with the Chris Evans "Magnificent 7" theme. Therefore the display looks rubbish if you don't have exactly 7 each day.

The south hillclimb is literally only a couple of hundred metres in a pretty much flat straight line so no great shakes but the cars are nice though.

Count me in, sounds almost too good to be true.

My worry is getting there and the car being clean...

Oh and it's school holidays so can do every day :)

Hey ho people. Long time, no posting! [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I shall make an appearance if thats OK. ;)

Edit: South obviously....
