Car Fest 2013

I can second that. Cars wise Goodwood FoS is much better - wider choice/variety, and the hill climb is better suited to the more powerful machines to exhibit their abilities.

However, the atmosphere and fun factor at CarFest cannot be faulted, even though it rained. It was soon forgotten though once the bands started playing. Definitely will be going next year. Thoroughly enjoyed the live music - Ocean Colour Scene, Sea Sick Steve and Keane rounded off the day very nicely. Superb!

Good to meet the usual suspects (Sean, Duncan and Andrew), and Matt for the first time.

Well done Danny for organising this.

I agree dulan, if you've been to fos then the car part or the event is nowhere near as good, but if you haven't you'll think it's fantastic (like my brother and brother in law thought).

As a family event/event as a whole though you really can't knock it

Rained and cold in the morning but about half 11 brightened up and stayed alright for the rest of the day. I had some good chats with some of the people there. The guy at the bloodhound ssc was a real interesting guy and we talked loads about the project itself, the costs designs, who is involved, the meticulous planning, why they are doing on a mudflat, aerodynamics etc etc and being F1 guys and aerospace backgrounds there knowledge and insight was fascinating especially into F1 now. The guy I talked is going to be to working with Mclaren Automotive next after the landspeed record is done in 2 years (above 1000mph!!) on the car after the P1. It's gonna smaller, lighter than the P1 but more powerful. He was at Williams then Mclaren and told a story about an 8 yr old kid turning up and thrashing them around a race track!! Lewis Hamilton!!

What about those Nova kit cars!! And one with the baby seat in behind!! Hardly looks safe!! I think one of them had a V6 engine in it. It is a ford v6 probably 2.8 Ford V6 cologne engine which was manufactured in cologne but there was also an ESSEX V6 version built in Dagenham which turning full circle is normally the engine in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica cars!! So there is a tenous link between the kit car and Chris Evans replica he ran up the hill!!

The Bloodhound project is very interesting. Should have stopped to talk to them, but I didn't stay long since the enclosure was packed.

The Nova Kit cars were a hoot. Was it the Essex one that had the bright Pink interior?! Quite horrific to say the least.....

I was sleep posting and thanked Oldskoolbaby. I'd like to retract any thanks incorrectly attributed to OSB and redirect them to CoolAsLife. Cheers mate ;)

Sorry I left without saying goodbye to the phase2s, Duncan and Danny had already left and the quitting window was (nearly) open.
