Cant polish a turd???....yeah what ever!

Great write up. Things are hotting up - exciting times!
: )
I always get a sinking feeling when the teething problems start become more apparent.
Battle on, young Sire!

Well more parts have been bought so tomorrow evening will see me drive all the way up to Edinburgh to pick up another audi S4 engine for the project. Theres nothing wrong with the one I have fitted but the one I'm picking up has tubular manifolds for bigger turbo's and a few other nice upgrades. Will also be picking up a pair of 2.8 n/a heads which flow better and a set of bigger injectors to cope with the bigger fuel bill. Later on next week ill also be traveling to Peterborough to pick up the ecu to get it running.
Plan for this 2nd motor is just to refurb it but add a standard 3.0 A4 crank and an off the shelf 82.5mm piston and rod kit from the states which are very cheap. All very easy but hugely beneficial in making it utterly bomb proof. With the correct turbo's it'll cope happily with 700hp but I will be along way off that initially unless I grow a pair of balls and fit the Holset I have here.
For the time being i'll be quite content with the stock S4 motor on lowish boost (350hp) thats currently in the car.
Engine aside, I'm overhauling the body(again) and stripping all the removalable panels and glass ready for repaint back to Iceberg. Makes sense to do it now while my mk1 mini is at the same stage. Will also be fitting my oem 17" wheels back to it so it should look like a pretty standard car by all accounts

An ambitious and impressive project Brett  do you have an estimate as to when you could have this back on the road ? It will be impressive to see when the day comes 8) 8)

I've given up estimating when it'll be finished Phill. Problem is my Mini is currently top of the list to finish but I'm still madly in love with the vee. One thing I don't find myself doing now is changing my mind on what to do with it which means I'm going in one direction. There's genuinely not too much work to do now and if I had more time and money it'll literally be a few weeks works. Off the top of my head, all it needs now is,

1. Fit and rewire standard S4 ecu
2. Make 3 driveshafts
3. Put together gear linkage
4. Give the engine fitted at the moment a belt change and service
5. Make 2 pipes to convert from VAG pas pump to Reno steering rack
6. Make 2 pipes to convert VAG A/C pump to original Reno A/C pipework
7. A few simple plumbing issues
8. Fit intercoolers
9. Upgrade fuel pump
10. Fabricate a very simple exhaust (no silencers 8) )
11. Remap to run a mafless induction setup
12. Sit back and enjoy

Phhaha!! Been a while since this was updated! Most will know this no longer belongs to me as my brother took it off my hands when [v6plaque]296[/v6plaque] landed on my drive.
Blake has been pretty hard at it recently. The car now has a Lotus/TWR development L7X engine. Originaly developed for the Lotus Monaco it produced 280hp with a special inlet manifold, fancy exhaust manifolds, head porting and uprated camshafts. Blake hasn't left it there though. Instead he's supercharged it using a Rotrex unit so we aren't entirely sure how many beans it'll make now. We were going to fit the standard ph2 gearbox and see how long it would last but instead a 5 speed Toyota unit and LSD is being fitted to it instead. Taken from an mk2 MR2 Turbo it is good for atleast 800hp before it crys no more so shall be plenty enough for him and better than a Sadev on a typical drive. It also has a Stack dash instead of the oem setup and an Emerald ECU powering the lot.
Just a little different from when I owned it.

Bang for buck its brilliant Ed. Not sure regarding the user friendlyness of it to be honest mate. If its like previouse Emeralds, they were a slight pain to map on the fly. Mainly because you had to open and close boxes for each adjustment I'm led to believe. That is a small price to pay for such a capable bit of kit with a wealth of support and back up behind it though.
