I was wondering what you would do if you was thinking of selling your vee and the Cambelt was due to be done ,would you get it changed or leave it for the new owner to sort ,but obviously adjust price to allow to be done .your thoughts appreciated .
Personally I would make a price adjustment for just the belts to be done. Mainly because he might live closer to a good specialist than I do, that journey for me adds greatly to the cost.
If I was buying, I'd like to see proof that the belts had very recently be done buy a reputable specialist.
In my opinion, knocking a grand off your car due to a needed Cambelt change is really silly and something you only ever really hear of on the v6 community. Putting it into perspective, your actually knocking a big percentage off your asking price due to basic up keep. The cost, in my opinion, should be down to the buyer swallow. Ok, if it was a £50k car then yes, you could probably lose a grand but not on cars that cost between £12-20k.
