Haha - JK! We thought ravydavy was a Chesney Hawkes lookalike. What a fantastic weekend! Probably the best car event I have been to so far. There is so much to see and it definitely required the full weekend to see it all. For me and my sun burnt nephew Joe, Friday: we walked around the pits and cars, Saturday: watched the displays in the various arenas, Sunday: watched the magnificant 7's go around the circuit.
With good company, new faces, a steady supply of beer (thanks Ash & Kal!), more car eye candy than you can wish for and a fantastic atmosphere, it was truely an awesome weekend.
Probably the coolest thing about the weekend was being an exhibitor. This meant we had early (un-crowded) access to the pits and a chance to wander around the entire venue hours before the gates opened and the crowds flooded in. Seeing Danny (roystinho) chatting to the owner and then all beeming smiles whilst sitting in his green 1968 Lamborghini Miura S would not have been possible to Joe Public. Similarly, Matt moved his car next to the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo (one of the World Rally Championship Magnificant 7) before the gates opened for a cheeky photo.
Our stand was right next to the pits and although there were a couple of huge lorries parked blocking our view, droves of people had to walk past our V6's to get down to the pits so we got a good steady stream of people stopping for a chat and taking photos. Excellent coverage for us.
Anyway here's a few snaps of the weekend. I'll be posting up some videos once I've spliced them altogether.
Oh - one last highlight. I thought the weekend was over, but then we ended up following the '68 Miura S and the LM 2002 home down the M6!! Great to see it driven like that and not on the back of a trailer.
I'm sure we can make next year even better for us. I'm envious of the Car fest South attendees cos I wanna do it all over again!
