Brakes

I'm about to embark on a bit of a refurb of the brakes. As far as I'm concerned (and I'll be happy to be convinced otherwise) but a disc is pretty much a disc, so I'll be getting nothing fancy. I have however convinced myself that some braided hoses would be a good idea, anybody else bought some?

Also does anyone have any good experiences with a particular brake pad? I'm currently thinking of DS2500's? They'll get some pretty vigorous use, but I don't really want another set of yellow stuff as they feel rubbish when cold and are a tad noisey.

Also has anyone experienced the clutch pedal going after some pretty hard driving? I'm pretty sure the fluid is boiling but it's pretty un-nerving to temporarily lose the clutch pedal (it comes back as soon as things cool down and you pump it a bit) if anyone has some experience with a higher temp brake fluid (especially if you run a race car or something) I'd be very keen to hear your thoughts.

Oh and has anyone had solid top mounts fitted? Is there any adverse effects on ride quality?

try some mintex m1144's for road/occasional track or m1155's if u track/drive hard a lot, better than the ds2500's imho.

I've had some braided hoses fitted when I last had the fluid changed :approve:
Think it did make the brakes slightly more positive as I thought mine were slightly spongy. The way I see it is the standard rubber brake pipes will deteriorate over time and give a little more resulting in a spongy pedal.

I've done the same Phil. I've always had good experience with them. Will be collecting the car from Scott tomorrow and he's put new disks, pads, braided hoses and fluid as well as giving the callipers a little routine tlc. Im hoping that the brake pedal will be brimming with feel (well maybe I'll find out when they've been run in- next spring)
