Brake ducts.

I'm now 99% convinced that brake ducts aren't the way forward. :s
Brake technology is such that: upgrading the components is far more productive.

Unfortunately, the brake disc size will always be governed by the wheels diam and (given the lack of wheel options) we're obviously limited... so brake ducts might eventually figure in my plans.
In the meantime, I'm going to persevere with a programme of weight-saving strategies and existing brake system enhancement (2-piece drilled discs, braided hoses, fluid upgrade and performance pads) for now... :approve:

Personaly, I think fitting larger disks on a road going Vee is a waste of time unless you intend on running either wider tyres, cut slick trackday tyres or bigger wheels. I've run my car with the ABS off a few times and although it feels marginaly better, it is VERY easy to lock the fronts up. The lack of weight upfront on a 215-225 tyre probably doesn't help this so a larger set up will add nothing other than unsprung weight.

Before anyone goes butchering fog lights I'd like to add that in the Renault Clio R3 rally car we run these - http://www.rallyshop.it/index.php?main_ ... ts_id=6489

We do not however run the ducting from the empty holes in the bumper where the fog lights are in the road car because very little air passes through these holes due to airflow spillage from the flat surface on the bumper (Renault Sports words not mine).
Instead we run the vents from behind the front grille (again, at the recommendation of Renault Sport.

Yes I know its a different model but it might still be worth keeping in mind

I used mine with the OEM brake components with the exception of braided hoses for 2 years on track and never experienced any fade issues due to temperature.

Then it got used by around 50 customers over an 18 month period on track and none of them had issues with the braking.

I spent 2 7 hour days with Don Palmer in the car and the thing he was most complimentary about was the brakes.

Honestly there are more areas to look at that will actually make the car "better" than the brakes (I'd be ditching the interior for example - free and an improvement to all aspects of the car in all conditions on track).
