ok bit of an update.
initial thoughts
Good
Plenty power, Milltek sounds nice, Seats are great, Plenty power

Less Good
Steering isnt right at all. pulls violently left and right under acceleration, braking and camber changes. Discussed with Andy and he recons lower bearings are the likely. So rather than pi$$ about ive booked it in to RentTec Edinburgh later in the week for a full check and bearing replacement.
Clutch slips slightly - not bad enough to merit changing but a remap is definitely off the cards atm.
EVERYTHING Rattles inside.....Which i half expected tbh.
Stereo is crap - ive got a Sony with Bluetooth to go in it when i get a chance.
Other than the above initially its great. Some pics

Do both for the few quid it costs for the bearings. Not a lot you can do unfortunatly.
The interior shouldnt rattle , mine is almost silent.
Ill attack it at some point with some sillicon spray and check none of the panels are loose. The interior shouldnt rattle , mine is almost silent.

I have had my R26 into Rentec a few times now, i had the major service done there aswell at the begining of summer, i find them pretty reasonable price wise and there turn around is good aswell.
I dont believe there is much you can do to prevent them seizing, its just where they are they tend to pick up the road dirt.
The speakers are decent enough. If your into massive sounds then i would guess they wouldn't suit you but for normal life they are fine i think.
A big clue to if the lower bearings have gone is the steering will try and resist when trying to self centre itself.
Its doing that and dead ahead jumps between 5 degrees each way past 12 oclock. Seems to have gotten worse since i picked it up.I dont believe there is much you can do to prevent them seizing, its just where they are they tend to pick up the road dirt.

Braking can make it pull and jump the other way also. Holding the wheel make the car pull so you have to let it go itself.
Oh the other thing it's doing is the TCS light bilks when it jumps.
On another note the one touch on the windows doesn't work. Is this common?
The windows go up and down fine just the one touch doesn't work. The switches click twice during operation if you hold them in position 1 all is good. Move to position 2 and the window stops until you return the switch to position 1.
Phoned RenTec. Failed MOT on braking performance. Which if nothing else confirms my suspicions of the brakes being crap. No ideas of whats wrong yet as they were waiting on a ramp becoming free. Says he test drove the car RE the bearing issue and has felt the problem. Once again still not been on a ramp for diagnosis.
Dont suspect ill be getting it back today at this point.
*Advisories
Rear brake pads on 7mm (min 7.5mm)
Off side rear exhaust mount broken
Both front tyres on 2.2mm
Front discs corroded on inner surface and fluctuating - suspect starting to warp - front pads on 12mm (min 8mm)
Sump gasket leaking oil
*Failures
Replace both rear handbrake cables for MOT test as seized
Replaced both swivel bearings as have excessive play
Sidelight Bulb inop.

Ah, the trusty old side light bulb, and the discs might explain your poor braking.
At least your failures list isn't too bad .......
Are you getting them to replace the cable and bearings ?
Yep. £500 for the bearings and the cable + MOTAt least your failures list isn't too bad .......
Are you getting them to replace the cable and bearings ?
Ill do the rest myself...

Got some anti squeak tape to try sort some of the rattles out as well.
Hopefully just niggling little jobs to sort then it will be solid.
Slightly disappointed they didn't fix it yesterday or today. They knew what it was coming in for.
From reading corroded inner front discs i bet the brake pads on the front calipers are corroded to the alloy body. That will give you shite brakes. They will whack out easy enough, clean the caliper up so the pads move in and out freely, new fluid and they will be shit hot again.
I'll have a proper look at them when I get the car back.Got some anti squeak tape to try sort some of the rattles out as well.

Cracking day here today so plan is (in between touring car races) to wash the FR & the Meg and give them a decent vacuum out. After that I'm gonna have a go at fitting the F1 Stickers to the Recaro bases. If i have time I've got some autoglym HD Wax that i might give a quick coating with.
Ive got a mirror switch to replace the one thats fitted as it won't adjust up or down. Works fine side to side. Will need to see if i can find a fitting guide to replace it (link anyone?)
Discs and pads arrived but i won't be doing them today as I'm waiting on the pins arriving from the shop.
Need to source an exhaust bracket as apparently one of them is split.

Renault only. DO NOT get an "uprated" one from eBay
Ill get my brother to source one from Renault. Just stuck my head under it and Its currently held up by a true motorsport solution - Cable ties!!So far today I've changed the mirror switch so they now move up and down in addition to left and right!
Ive also fitted the Sony Bluetooth radio - Although I've not got the cable for the steering controls yet.
After fitting the stereo i had a go at trying to sort some more rattles. Partially took the rear card off and covered things in my anti squeal tape and re-attached it properly which has seemed to sort some of the rattles.
Unfortunately now however the windscreen has cracked. I think it might have happened when i closed the bonnet. Must have been a chip or crack in it already cos i can't see where its started or whats caused it. I didn't slam the bonet at all - just dropped it from 6 inches or so. can't explain why closing the bonnet would have caused a crack tho £60 excess on a screen repair so ill be calling them!
