Clio Big Steve’s Clio Williams 2 (World Cup Williams) 🌍

Had a quick look this morning kept an old door of a year old car for this reason memory is fading it’s from a Laguna , found a mint mk2 R5 tail gate though no wiper hole
Wow that was very nearly VERY fortuitous for me!! Thanks for checking matey!! 👍👍👍

Going to see if this door is still at the breakers I went to before:

Really surprised to see the hinge pin stuck fast in like that! Never experienced them getting rusted solid like this before!?
I had this with the passenger door on the 21, it defied belief. I had to cut the door off in the end and bent the hinge on the chassis trying to knock the body out even though I supported it underneath. Had to drill all the way through in the end.

Couldn’t bare the thought of missing out on this minty fresh door, so dashed over to Bury St Edmunds with a few tools and liberated it:

It’s in AMAZING condition, no rust anywhere, and the hinge pins just flew out!!

Am seriously considering a homage to the blues brothers police car with a pair of white doors on the Clio Williams with some sheriff star decals to get me mobile again whilst the sills also get done before she gets a bit of paintwork… will certainly bring out the haters 🤣🤣🤣

That shell needs snapping up @Big Steve - Raider Great start for a maxi rep , non sun roof
Yeah good point Stu! The cars only done something like 25,000 miles (Last MOT was 19,753) so the car was definitely looked after well.

It’s in there because it’s suffering from rusty rear sills/arches, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed, and as you suggest, if you were doing a Maxi conversion, it would be a GREAT doner!

If the roof is mint I would consider chopping that off . I think the roof liners are all the same 4 hours round trip to get a part I don’t really need atm , but non sunroof models are rare

I dropped on the car very quickly as it arrived, but someone got there before me and whipped LOADS of stuff including the roof liner, roof trims, window seals, door seals etc… for sure there’s someone else in east anglia that was faster than me!!! 😫

Go out into the garage this morning, full of vim and vinegar, with the aim to get the door back on…

Gave the hinge plenty of 🔨 and 🔥 then more 🔨 and eventually the last bit of hinge pin came out!!

:clapping.gif::dance.gif::yes3.gif: The with a bit of finagling, I managed to get the door back on:

Turns out I’ve NOT fixed the droopy door syndrome, it still waggles about if you give it a lift at the end when it’s opened… but I’m pleased I’ve done the donkey work for the new doors when I decide to get them on.

Whilst I was in the garage, I took a few photos of how the sills look to help understand what work and panels would be needed to weld it back up... The worst is by far the front Near and Offside Sills:

People who just chew up sills with trolley jacks need a kick in the butt as far as I’m concerned… 😤

Full resto on the cards I reckon , you just won’t be able to stop yourself .
The later body shells had another strip of strengthening metal in the sills the first one I repaired was hit in the drivers door and sill , put a second hand side in it from a later car ,
Full recommend 3m spray sealer to replicate factory Reno look ,

Proper boys and toys weekend has been… 👌

Nipped over to one of my garages to fish the Clio 200 Raider out and give it a little freshen up for an MOT on coming days:

Then had a bit of time on the Williams this morning, trying to re-seal the exhaust down pipe which seems to be leaking. Jacked the car up:

Then for the first time, got myself under it for a looksie. OMG the front jacking points are absolutely battered..!

Discs are knackered:

Missing an air inlet pipe by the look of it:

Bit of corrosion on the subframe:

And the Aux belt looks tired 🥱

All fixable tho..! 🙂

Whilst I had both cars at the dojo, I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to have a back to back drive:

Clio 200 is all the car you want in this modern age… Air Conditioning, ABS, Cruise Control, great Euro NCAP results (so definitely the car you’d want to crash in..)

But the Williams just wipes the floor with it when it comes to feeling fast and driver engagement!

I’m still going a little easy on it because I don’t know the history of the belts, so that’s something I want to get into ASAP and replace them both.

WHAT A GREAT LITTLE CAR THIS IS 🥰
