Best exhaust/back box?

The 'best' one is the one that best suits your requirements.. ;) The most bespoke one would probably be the one that Tim mentioned. Personally I think for an off the self option, the Janspeed takes some beating.
Gone off the QS back boxes since getting the Janspeed on mine and hearing of the questionable build quality of some QS boxes. That said, my QS box was of a very good quality.!

So.. Janspeed full system for me, as I just wanted to shed a bit of weight from the rear of the car, and I wanted a nice sound. :)

Slightly biased as I've got one but the QS Supersports is the only system I heard that made the hairs on my neck stand up and I heard A LOT of combinations!! It's not the best system to put on if you're driving the vee everyday as it is boomy on motorway/dual carriageway runs (part throttle partially cures this) but as a stand alone, 'out of the box' back box i.e no playing around with cats/collector pipes etc etc I think it offers the best sound.

The longer I've had the exhaust on the more burbles and pops it creates. The sound it makes above 4000rpm is simply feral. I accept it is on the more expensive side but then the workmanship seems to be second-to-none. Quicksilver also offer Aston/Lambo/Ferrari exhausts. It produces some nice burbles and pops lower down the rev range and it also gives the car a harder, more road racer idle note.

I appreciate others opinions will differ and I accept if you were to hear mine you may not see what I hear. If that makes any sense!! The main thing here is you get the exhaust that you prefer; 10 people will say 10 different things about 10 different exhausts

Maybe the best bet would be to do what I did and listen to as many as you can. Youtube is your friend here but the link James posted a while ago covers off the Quicksilveer offerings viewtopic.php?f=69&t=12917

Happy hunting :approve:

gawd, this is soo hard [smilie=doubt.gif]

So, options you have:

1. KTEC - quite quiet but look better than standard and a good price
2. Quicksilver Sport - A little louder and not too boomy inside cabin, looks better and approx 600quid new.
3. Quicksilver Supersport - Very noisy and boomy inside cabin but better looking and pops :)
4. Janspeed full system - good reviews from people on here. Sport cats will not illuminate engine warning light.
5. Orbisoud - quality system but expensive sounds at its best with decats.
6. Custom job - few members on here have had back boxes made up.

or, if you're after abit more noise from it then you could decat the collector box/replace with 2 pipes to standard back box.

Hope that helps alittle. ;)

This is getting harder by the post, love the orbisoud sound though, but where can you get them from.
But then again i like the sound of all of them- Maybe i should just get my seats sorted first!

Remember that Matt's orbisoud is mated to a fully decatted system. Makes a huge difference to the sound/bangs/pops etc etc

France mate. Meriel nr to Paris.

I've got Quicksilve Sport son mine and i don't actually like it that much and think it sounds pretty sh*t from inside the car. i have been told that from the outside it sounds absolutely awesome, but that doens't really help me enjoy the car anymore from the inside...

I feel that it is too low and burbly and sounds like someone who has tried to put a big exhaust on their car (yes, i know this is what i've kind of done!). In terms of quality of sound, i think it's worst than standard. It's louder etc, but i actually prefer the pitch / note of the standard exhaust and would rather rpelicate that, albeit a little louder / crisper with pops and cackles. Thus, I think that I am going to go full Janspeed system in the New Year...

Should have got a Supersport ;)
I loved my Quicksilver supersport - not to many peoples tastes but a good solid noise, burbles and pops occasionally.

Will hopefully sound even better with a collector pipe delete!!!
