Bad day after 4 months of working

Reno 9

Active Member
Hello every body :
After more than 4 months of working on my Renault 9 16v :

1. Installing F7R block from Megane with my F7p Head.
2. Increasing the compression ratio to 10.7 : 1
3. Port and Polish the head.
4. New Clutch Kit.
5. 2.5" exhaust pipe ( Stainless steel ).
6. Fuel Pump welbro 255 lph.
7. Fuel Pressure regulator.
8. Performance chip with 8000 RPM.
9. NGK Iridium spark.
10. 10 mm Spark Plugs.
11. With JB3 083 Gear box.

After driving the car for a month the engine Knocked from 2500 RPM or more and that`s after accelerating for sometimes.

And really the car was having massive torque and it takes 6.5 sec from 0 to 100 Km with a lot of wheel spinning and the engine sound was wonderful

So i will buy another F7R block but i have a question ?

I have the Megane F7R Head,so can i take the Inlet valve and the cams from it and put them in my F7P head or there is a difference.

Thanks,

actually the performance chip was an old installation as i used it for 2 years on the stock F7P and it gave me good gains but i was using it till 7800 RPM as more than that it is usless with bad performance.

But do you know if the Megane F7R cams and inlet valves can be installed in the F7P head,or even can i run the Megane head with the F7P ECU & distributor without the coils or this can not be done.

you can use the megane cams in the F7P head but they have less lift so why bother?

To fit the megane inlet valves would require the seats to be remachined.

you can run the megane head with the F7P ECU and distributor, but you will have to have the megane head machined to actually take the distributor. And it will never run quite right as you'll be forced to use the megane inlet and throttle body, which is completely different.

Hmmmm

Got it .
So the best way is to use the F7P head with it`s cam but i can change the Inlet valve after some head work.

But i have a another question :
What is the difference between the F7P head and the F7R williams Head ?

I mean if i already done the Port and polish and williams inlet valve with the F7R Block,is there anything else than the cams in order to have 150 BHP.

Thanks,

f7r's don't like to be taken over 7.5K....
Something to do with the crank.
(F7p are okay to 8K)

What mm are your valves?
F7p are 30mm.... willy f7r are 32mm and meggy f7r are 33mm

So the ecu you have is a 1.8 with a chip?

Would it not perform better with a 2.0 ecu?

I am running the stock F7P valve 30 mm.
Also i am using the F7P ECU with the chip but i can buy new F7R performance chip with low rev limit if it will put me in safe side.
