5 GT Turbo B18ft spark plug disaster!

Hi

Decided to give my Renault 5 B18ft engine a quick service ready for MOT, will be first for several years. 3 plugs out no dramas, fourth was giving me jip so I soaked it in wd40 for half hour and cracked it off with breaker bar... Whoops... Its kind of half in and half out. Whatamagonnado! I don't want pull the head off. The bit left in the head is smooth so nothing to grab. Can't really drill it out coz of the swarth. What about some hardcore chemical fastening stuff on and stick it back in let if go off and try again??

I spent 7 hours a few weeks back getting a turbo off and 3 carrying degrees of snapped, seized steel bolts in alloy head along with warped manifold

The last one had everything done to it and almost gave up and took head off with view to drive to the engineering unit

And last try only worked........took 10 mins of lording it before calming down to carry on lol.....best feeling

Nice one Dunc. I think the trick is not to rush. Come up swith a plan. I love working in cars but pleased it's not the day job really.

This! So easy to get the red mist and go all in with a hammer, grinder or chisel and then when that fails and you've mangled everything and left yourself zero other options, you realise afterwards that there was a couple of other things you could have tried if you'd just taken a breather and thought about it a bit more.
