Megane Artic blue 225

Had issues with the cv clip catching the hub..turned into a royal carry on as nowhere stocks the stainless bands around here, took 3 days to find one :rolleyes:20170524_214415.webpNew dog bone mount filled with polyurethane sealant for added strength - worked grand and free as left over from the garage roof:D20170523_204644.webp 20170524_165531.webp
Refurbed the subframe to inner wing brackets as rusty as feck. Wire brush/rust remover and por15 to the rescue20170522_211748.webp

So after the driveshaft saga got that refitted and gear oil in. Then had to get @Sheryl_O to give us a hand bleeding the clutch. I pre filled/capped the slave before fitting so should have been easy however 500ml of fluid and still a wank clutch pedal that needed pressing 40mm before doing anything.

Totally shit design who fits the bleed off 100mm away from the slave ?? Anyway the clutch worked just bite was very low when fired up which has sorted itself over last couple of days. I can only assume small air bubbles have come out with use ?? Bled the brakes all round with motul rbf600 whilst at it.

Back together and gearbox works superb nice smooth shifts and the lsd works grand. Car has been transformed just plant your foot down when exiting roundabouts etc so well worth the pain of fitting. 100 miles at 16mpg this weekend forgot how shit it is on fuel if you have your toe down:D

Still need a bloody xenon level sensor for the front ? Looking likely that its going to be a newun from renault.20170526_170441.webp

Outer cv joint i used is shaftec cv1060n. About £70 new. You will need a stainless band style jubilee clip to clear the hub as in this pic. Simple belt old cv off then knock new one on(y)20170524_214415.webp

Long time no update

Megane has been running great. Used it for CS festival this year - Flying at Blyton as usual had an awesome day - Brakes were the only downside - working ok but stock front pads need upgrading for something better

Track pics - No trackday is complete without pics :D20170826_133055.webp 20170826_164918.webp 36062836663_59872d09ee_o.webp 36475002300_f41db758bc_o.webp 36871185725_a87ae5068a_o.webp 36871193415_cd247b5e6b_o.webp

Find knocking at rear and diagnose
New pads up front
Fix oil weep from Passenger side driveshaft seal
Replace front flexi section on Milltek as flexi is rattling

Started last week trying to find the source of the low speed light knocking at the rear. Jacked up - removed shocks - no issues with them - bushes are fine - exhaust hangers fine - Removed and regreased pads on rear - checked every bolt going - still no joy ?? nothing is untoward so might have to ride it out a bit - possibly pad rattle god knows ??

Parts arrive - Ferodo DS1.11 front pads and gearbox seals/new gear oil (total gear8 - class and cheap)20170914_204358.webp
Milltek front section - good quality welding is pretty decent - seen a lot worse on aftermarket exhausts

Jacked up and fitted front pipe yesterday - hour job done - no more rattles - loud as fuck wth no exhaust system on had to fire it u with decat only for the crack

20170915_144051.webpMove onto driveshaft and drain gear oil - shaft ready to pull out - knocked pins out of front pads and they flew out. Should have been done today but have knocked my back out in the gym lastnight - so will have to wait until thats eased off then back on with it mid week. Only casualty up to now is centre exhaust hanger shot so got one on order from RPD.

Small update

Driveshaft oil seal done on Sunday - not the most pleasant job with knackered back. Had to borrow a snap on seal driver kit to get the new shaft seal in as awkward to get in with subframe on. @Sheryl_O volunteered to fit the ds1.11s with a bit of supervision - done a grand job and no broken nails:D

Just needs new centre exhaust mount fitting hopefully get it done in next few days when better. Current situation and not long until the ring so hopefully no problems on test run20170921_115927.webp

Exhaust hangers from Renault are a decent price and an easy job. I can't wait to see your reaction to those DS1.11s!

Bought a new geunine mount from RPD £21 delivered. Turns out that the original was fine - i thought it had ripped off at the corner but not connected there from new  original mount is actually better than the new one as it has an additional restraint strap which is not on the new one.

Will break in the ds1.11 later when the roads are quiet see whats what:D

Cant remember if I had the UNO's or DS1.11s me and our kid bought one of each to try, but they both seemed to work OK, not quite as good as the DS3000s but a much better wear rate.

Stopping power is good on Daves r26 - seem to work good from cold too compared to the usual wooden pedal feel from track pads.

DS3000s are even better mate, but going through a set per track day was getting expensive..... I think all round the 1.11s are the best compromise for performance and longevity.

Pads bedded in and braking power feels superb. No other issues to report seems to be flying. Should be good for its mot on Sat then a quick blast to the Nurburgring and back week after :D

Long time no update

Discovered a split in the sidewall of the front NS2R before Nurburgring so had an emergency swap to A048's up front20171005_114647.webp

Made it to the Nurburgring 20171008_145619.webp 20171008_145532.webp
Done a few laps with changing weather conditions, come in too hot into brunchen clipped the wet apex sending the car sideways - resulting in a minor bumper to armco contact ! No damage to anything apart from bumper/wing and lost a centre cap out of the turini. Luckily no charge for armco as just paint mark.

On return home i gave the car a once over. I had noted knocking up front and play in the steering on the journey making the front end feel loose prior to crash. A bit of diagnosis and needs passenger side tie rod replacing/rack bush and balljoints/bushes wont go a miss.

Picked up new bumper and wing in the Kangoo £45 the pair which was a bargain

Purchased a ctek charger to keep the battery right over winter as currently sorn. Booked into the bodyshop for paint in January so should be one colour again soon. Next job is to do the suspension - balljoints and tie rods in stock just waiting for the bushes to arrive. Geo and service should be good to go again:D20171214_155825.webp
