Not a great deal has happened on the meg recently - got all the parts together - new track control arm bushes and balljoints - new tie rods/tie rod ends, rack bush etc. Fitted passenger side tie rod & rack bush and then the weather went tits up so will be back on it again soon now its warming up.
As on the Kangoo thread i got a phonecall off a friend advising me about 2 day opening event 50% off all tyres on the premises at the newly reopened Tyre City in Brotton. Have wanted some new quality road tyres and managed to grab a set of 4x 225/40/18y rated XL Michelin Pilotsport 4 for the bargain price of £266. Last 4 left as 46 had sold before i got there. Got to be one of the best road tyres available at the moment - great grip wet & dry. Will be great for the current climate of mostly pissing down and keep the A048s for track use

The PSS has been superceeded by the 4s and is quite hard to get hold of now.
Ps cup 2s are proper top end mind ..

So cracked on with suspension rebuild

20ton press is great, used loads of times over the years. Balljoints and bushes out
Attacked the arms with the knotted wheel on the grinder, solid only surface rust cleaned up great. Trw balljoints and febi bilstein oem replcement bushes pressed in - Treated with por15 metal prep and 2x coats of por15
Grease bolts fitted, great bit of kit should have been fitted from the factory. The swivel bearings were still fine in this but regreased which squished out a load of mucky looking grease so well worth doing, can easily maintain and grease once/twice a year if necessary. New gen renault tie rods fitted, trackfocus direct rack bush and trw tie rod ends to finish off.
Back together, fired up first crank as been sat on the ctek trickle charger all winter. Needs tax and a trip down to the local garage for hunter anlignment and good to go!

Turn in feels mega on the 250, very sharp and accurate. I thought the 225 was the bollox with the lsd before driving this. Stock cup suspension is solid, build quality is great no rattles or anything. It actually feels like no mods are required to improve the performance - Evolution i guess. 225 is still a great car though all day long.
Cons - rear visibilty is shit - recaro cs are a bit hard on a run however good side support

Back on the road, suspension components have been replaced for mostly new oem, upgrades where necessary & geo set. Turinis refurbished to a high standard with fresh PS4 all round, drives fantastic like a good megane should. The perfect fast road/occasional track setup.

Motorcool in Thornaby, £220 from memory mate for refurbishing and powdercoat. The finish is mega, the insides are as good as the outside.
