Anybody Selling A V6

As much as it was all for the LOLs and just friendly banter and so on ... it made us look like a bunch of squabbling numpties. I'd been watching this thread and let some things ride, but then I popped out to M&S to buy some crap trousers for work and when I came back ...

Duly cleaned up since I'm off away on business for next few days and have better things to do than be concerned about you lot ;).

Hi Amy,

I'm from the area and have been obsessed with the V6 since it first came out. Finally got one last year (MK1) and often drive it to whitby n back.

My advice would be, be prepared to travel to get the best one if necassary. See a few different ones to compare them. Look for low mileage and full (prefferably Renault) service history, an enthusiastic owner who has taken care of it (Clio V6.net member is a good sign). Do a HPI check on it on the internet (about £10 for the proper HPI one but worth it for the info). Have a look underneath if you can. Test drive.

They are absolutely awsome, let me know if you get one. North East V6 posse haha :)

Crumbs, I guess most of you will agree how far off some of points discussed on this thread are today, and how soon the Vee has moved from being a car for the consumer market to one being appreciated as a (modern) classic!

Way to go, and long may it continue........... :approve:

However, I hope the OP wasn't put off by this thread - she certainly hasn't visited the forum since June 2012.

Great stuff, but please be careful using the new search feature. It costs us a small fortune.

If you dig up anything OW or CF related, you will be incinerated by the moderator. ;)

Aah, no fear since one cannot search with a two-character search phrase :)

What do 'OW' and 'CF' mean or are they abbreviations? Think we may need a glossary...........

I just plodded my way through the first two pages of this wondering what was going on! Don't pay more than £9k for a Ph1 !!

Then I noticed the date of the posts. Indeed, how things have changed in less than a couple of years.

Now to find that decent Ph1 for £9k.......I wish!!

You can still buy them in Hong Kong cheaper than uk

Costs about 8k gbp for cars below 40k miles and usually in fairly good condition though might need a cambelt change

Cost of ship and import would probably put them near uk prices though

Phase 2 are pricey since only 3 or so of them here

It's the import costs that would kill the advantage I'm afraid, and by the time the car is on the road in the UK, it will have cost around 60% more than the purchase price, with transportation and dock handling both ends, shipping and taxes. I've brought a few cars in from the USA, and one from Australia, but only because the weather in these countries preserves the old classic a lot better than our rather damp climate, and that justifies the additional costs. Not really an issue with the Clio as far as I can see.

Where are the Clio V6s from in Hong Kong? From the records it looks like only 1 Ph 2 was shipped originally. I guess that a few have come in from Japan, and a few more from the UK? Or are there left hand drive cars there as well?

Come to think of it, Japan must be an interesting hunting ground for our cars, with over 200 being shipped there originally.
