Vee's are amazing cars but to get the best out of the ownership experience, you should be prepared to travel further to find a good one...
...that the price of exclusivity! ;)

your advising someone to buy 1 Phase 1 for near enough 11k- just because its in yorkshire?

It would be better off advising the OP to spread their wings a little & find a car thats worth it- for the sake of a bit of travel-
I wouldnt even give it a second glance-
Considering a near identical PH1 just sold on Ebay for ~ 7300 then is this car the best part of 4k better?

depending on budget North of 11k buy a PH2-
If the budget is less than 10k buy a Phase 1- Or save more...
Dont pay more than 9k for a PH1 its not worth it-

dealer wise- theres only usually 1 dealer that sells V6's & thats WSSC cars-
Theres a few for sale on there- but obviously at a premium over a private sale- but then a dealer is always going to ask more-
just not 4k more.............

Willing to tavel to get a decent car thats no problem i know how rare they are and been my dream car i dont want anything to dampen that I have a budget of about 12k and would ideally like a phase 2. so if anyone hears of a decent one about then let me know.
thanks for the replies

Amy just a quick one-

You would be better off buying from here & trading your fiesta-

even on WWBYC.com or ebay

net you would probably still do better than buying from a dealer that has minimal knowledge of the cars-

12k will get you a nice titanium, illiad & possibly a black gold-

best of luck- buy carefully though

Theres a few people that would certianly be up for helping you on your purchase so before you place a deposit- put the link up here & it will more than likely have a history known to one of us

Bit of a sweeping statement there Steve... tut tut.. You know better than that 8)

well yeah, a bit sweeping-- Perhaps I will rephrase to say there arent many around that are worth paying more than 9k for....
But certainly not nearly 11k...

for me 10k would be top dollar for a phase 1- sub 20k miles & all the right History..
Thats for Silver though- I cant remember how many PH1 blue ones are left, they are rare...-

Anyway amy is looking for a good PH2- so there we go
:)
I dont actually know of many decent Phase 2's for sale currently- A couple but are quite steep on price etc-
The black gold on PH with the honda recaros will be a good shout when its gets reduced @12k

The single most insulting thing I've ever read on here. Shame on you.

I put 10k top dollar on a silver one & added the caveat that the rare blue one would possibly be more- & yes I could have included Mars red as well-Which is equally as rare-

As you will know I am generalising on these cars- there will be specific examples of phase 1's that have been dry stored, sub 15k miles, all the ticket etc that yes you may well get towards that original price- however they will need to be showroom condition & with the service history to underpin the price-

however these cherished examples are UNLIKELY to be listed frrom a dealer on pistonheads - they will be sold exclusively on here- reason- because anyone with such a cherished car will not let there car go to a dealer offering peanuts- & so it shouldnt either....

So dont your knickers in a twist, :violin: it was a generalisation-
Its just the same for a phase 2- generally they are now on offer between 10 & 14k for a good one- although find one in the same catagory described above & you will get upward of 16k, especially if its an ID colour-

Just with every other owners club, you cannot inflate the price of a car, because outside of the hub that is the owners club there will be equally as many people that need to sell for financial reasons & or have cars that arent up to the high standards set on here-
The pricing pointed out will cover just about 90% of all cars presented on pistonheads & probably 99.9% of cars presented by dealers-
& it does stand that 9k is top whack for a phase 1- unless it falls in that exclusive 10% ( or less) of cars described above-

no need to get so defensive -- its only a car-
Id hate to see your face if you ever needed an insurance claim on yours...
:ihatpcs:

At least ive come on here & offered some advice---

Also if you go through the listings on PH- out of them all, that black one- if the miles are warrentied & the car is good etc etc seems to represent the best value for money for a phase 2 as the OP could have a 100% standard car for ~ 11.5k which for a BG V6 on 37k is pretty good money-& the guy is taking a PX
& sadly is a better deal than any phase 1 rated over 10k unless it was something VERY VERY special-

Isnt that what people want these days VFM?

He he the phase 2 on PH with the Honda recaros used to be mine ... Garaged all it's life, while I and the first owner owned it, not driven in the wet ... Well maintained and cherished ... A good buy for someone at the right price - I have no idea what that is now given that I would be in the position as a buyer not a seller ... A different perspective altogether ...

Hi Martin- is the reference to you el presidente?

I dont know what it is ( well apart from the recession ) but I think it has been a painful year for V6 sales-

I know people look in & think I just knock these cars, when in truth it couldnt be furtehr from the truth- I look at pretty much every car in detail in the range on pistonheads / AT/ Gumtree & EBAY daily- I have to if I want to survive selling decent cars-

The sales of the vees this year has been Mighty slow, WSSC have had 4 or 5 listings on there for ages & they have sold only 2-

Targa florio havent sold either listing & the price of both of those continue to drop & there have only been a handful of sales of private cars-
Notably the 4k blue one when it dropped to 19k-

What it all means sadly is that whilst the quality of the cars probably are no worse or better than last year, the demand for them is continually being squeezed down & down through how people decide to spend their money-
Also, people have wised up- you will only sell the best car, the best presented ad with the best pictures, if you dont have them- people will gloss over the ad-

Your old car on PH, As a prospective buyer ( which is how I class myself) Doesnt jump off the page to me- minimal information & pictures that dont really do the car much justice, but yet the price tag at the top end of the v6 spectrum-

As much as id like to see them all +15k & phase 1's +10k it isnt going to happen again all the while the recession is biting hard & for the fact that people buy these cars & then have to sell or trade it quickly after realising they cant afford the running costs....

Good luck to the OP on finding a car- & good luck to the person selling the BG-
I would remove those seats though....

Thats right don't buy from a dealer ;)
Steve you were way off on the V6 at auction price and you're putting people off buying these cars, if they have a bad hidden history lets hear about it, let owners and dealers price these cars as they think fit and let the market quietly decide what they are worth.

What did it go for then-??

Auctions are a lottery my friend- especially when the general public get involved-
You will get a mix of traders bidding & then a private buyer will come in & trump the lot because they want that car-

Whatever it went for you could almost ignore- bottom line is just look at pistonheads etc-

I cant remember the specifics of that auction- I recall Silver phase 1 & circa 40k miles?

trade buyer- 7-7500, private buyer upwards 8k

so,... what did it go for out of curiosity?
