annoying idle

well guys.
ive recently done the head gasket on the clio and since the idle while rolling to a stop sits at 2k rpm and once stopped it drops to 500rpm. stationery the idles fine but once it warms up its like its missfiring! ive checked everything that ive done and all seems to ok! yee any idea's?

cheers chris.

did you alter the tappets or were they altered? i had the identical problem on my 19 (1.4), turned out that the guy who i got to do the head had tightened the tappets like mad for some reason, got another chap to fix that, half an hour work and it was perfect...

even when driving if i put my foot on the clutch to change gears the revs would drop incredibly low but once tappets were fixed problems just disappeared

nah shouldnt be anything to do with the slight weep but id have that sorted soon as too, youll get airlocks and shit and your car will be prone to over heating most likely

only noticed it the other day! one on order down the local dealers! 3 weeks------absolutely useless!

2krpm while rolling is due to the road speed sensor and is intentional

500rpm is too low, remove and clean the idle speed control valve, check the vacuum hoses. Has the throttle position sensor ever been touched?

How long's it been doing this then
