Velcro toolbox straps.

After Searching for an alternative online, I spotted these,

Velcro Stretch adjustable straps 2.5cm x 68cm long. ( 2 in a pack ) ( Item No 256859 )

These are available in Halford priced £4.79. Although slightly longer and thinner than the originals, its reasonably priced alternative to replacing the toolbox Velcro straps which are prone to breaking if pulled too tight,

These measures approx 68cm long and 2.5cm (1”) wide
The original Straps measure approx 65cm long and 3.8cm (1.5”) wide

These alternatives can also stretch, which allow you to strap a spare coil or tools onto the outside of the box.

Below is a comparison to the original (bottom)

Cool thanks mate. Both mine broke ages ago so will pop down and get some of this.
Veeeery useful!

the strraps proberbly deteriate due to heat degredation over time long term test i think

Good point about the heat Ray. They might expand over time, but a spare packet or four is still likely to be a cheaper alternative knowing Renault's prices for these obscure parts.

Hi guys.

I to have a strap gone on my tool kit but it was the plastic oval ring that you return the strap back round :( The strap itself is ok somebody has used a tie wrap as a replacement for the plastic oval bit ! I saw this thread last night and thought ill do that tomorrow !!! What a cracking idea ! I did take the strap from the tyre foam and thought yes ! This is a great idea as you don't see it but alas !!! :( The strap on the foam is about 3 inches shorter ! Oh Bugger I said to myself ! :s So I am still stuck with a tie wrap :( Good idea but in my phase one the straps are to short :(

I have a pair of black Velcro straps 65cm long and 38mm wide So same size as stSndard ones

I purchased a pair of Iain's straps - they are now fitted and are perfect [cmilie=iconcheers.gif] I can't believe Renault used the plastic ring instead of the metal like on these ones ! It was the plastic ring that broke on mine the strap itself was like new ! Thanks again Iain - glad you enjoyed your hol's ;)
