Alternative coil packs

Has anyone had any success running non Renault coil packs on their V6?
As these seem prone to self destruction, it would be good to know if there's a more reliable alternative out there to having to carry a spare in the car.
I was chatting to an ex V6 owner the other day and he mentioned he used to run coils off a different vehicle which worked well and were more reliable. I grilled him on what they came off but he couldn't remember.

I have used peugoet P597094 coil packs for over 10yrs and never had one fail YET, i think car is still running 1 oe renault.
They retail about £36 from Pug main dealer or did in 2014 when i last got some as i still carry a spare.
Plenty of sellers offer on ebay but i’d rather have piece of mind and Pug dealer only few miles away.
Trophy coils are the way to go but getting them for a reasonable price is issue and they need connectors altering.

Since they changed from Sagem to Valeo, the coil packs seem to be better quality.

Has anyone had one fail recently? It used to be pretty common, but (tempting serious fate typing this) I havent had one go or heard of anyones going in years.

I was musing over this the other day, while replacing a failed one on my car - i'd probably look at a 197 coil back to start with. They seem robust and not a million miles away in size or shape.

Only about £20 a pop, not the end of the world. I have a spare in my glovebox, you just gotta hope if one goes its the front bank not the back (on a phase 1 anyway!)
