Clio Alien Green 200 gets boost

Update!
------------------------
Atlast another update,
So it's been a very fun week I've had. Il let the pictures do the talking.

So before I went to RS Tuning for mapping I wanted to get a few bits sorted, so I installed my harnesses and custom tow strap.

I made it so I can put my plastic cover over it as I don't really like the towstrap tongue look.
i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_3773D316_9D04_4D89_82FB_1F0420D77D7D_zpswlraaem1.webp

And harnesses were installed
i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_DBFC386F_CA53_4C3E_B3D5_8BAE5B80F4A1_zpsuwhg6bkz.webp

So I left around 5:30am to get kam and head upto Rs Tuning, I could spend all day at the place, I really enjoyed others talk and also Paul and specky were a good laugh too! Really
Knowledgeable too.
Anyway got praised on how neat my install was and was very happy about it. So that was an added bonus, however he hated my option of intercooler and hardpipe kit (SC Auto) got told it's a cheap janspeed intercooler, he was right it does next to nothing as you look through one side and you can see straight out the other end! Temps went from 22 to over 40!
The kit itself was leaking, Another issue was somehow I managed to plug my oil sensor and knock sensor in each others wrong place. So when Paul was mapping he couldn't get his head around why the timing was being pulled so much. Anyway specky got under it and switched them, sorted my boost leak out and done another pull and instantly got 25bhp from that. Prior to mapping I told him some figures I was after and he listened and mapped it very well.
Car ran 237 stock map, after mapping It ran 286bhp and pretty much the same torque, I kept it low due to running the Clio box and to say I was looking no more than 290 he done well.
I was booked in for 10am and I started heading home at 2pm! Great people and great laugh, I'd happily drive even further to have them map my car again.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_3F8988AE_F62A_4B3C_BE24_941A36C2BB3B_zpsmmjfi0yv.webp

Also this week Stuart popped over to have his rear sunstrip installed so had to give a few photos of both our Meg conversion clios together now with his rear sunstrip

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_1B20D35A_6E24_49F9_8393_47E5F551D180_zpsfngvn1oj.webp

Next up was further prep for the 2 track days I had, so GoPro! Made myself a mount due to not having time to buy one, it's mounted a little high so I will be doing it off my cross bar next time.
Exhaust clamp and dremal to cut it to fit, done the job.

Thursday!
Next stop, snetterton! My first track day. Kind of nervous about it, so went up with a couple mates in clios.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_86243377_74FF_4A79_9666_5CC18FA6B7C7_zpsqp0wg60o.webp

The car performed faultless, only issue I had was my brakes faded the first session I went out and next session towards the end my car was shaking like crazy under braking. Kind of ruined my day but I still tried to make the most of it by going out a couple laps at a time. I enjoyed myself but still in my head I wish I opted for a better brake set up. So kam took me out in his for a few laps chasing caterhams, the things incredible on r888r and cupracer suspension, braking on the last marker coming under the bridge.
It was at this point I decided I needed the brake set up he had as it worked.

Friday morning,
Managed to get hold of a new brake set up, so went over to KamRacing, picked my parts up and then headed straight to Bedford autodrome! Never had been here before either. So kind of followed a few people around the site and everyone was very friendly and helpful. First job was to take my brake set up off and replace it with my new set up, so waiting for other to arrive I jacked the car up in the car park and got to work. KamRacing told me the break in procedure for these and I was shocked but! It worked and they were spot on all day.

Cheers to everyone being helpful at the renaultsport day! Met up with Jack and Lewis who have a storm grey R26 engined Clio.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_72B06574_9499_4221_9386_F2DAA34A8435_zpsucr7kjy5.webp

Had so much fun at Bedford, wasn't sure I would enjoy it as it seemed abit boring, on track it's completely different and now I had brakes that I could stomp on and be out 30mins at a time without any issues. So thoroughly enjoyed it.

I did book on to drive the Clio 220 however I stayed out in my car as I was enjoying it so much.
Only thing that I need to note for next time is bring some spare fuel as my fuel light come on on track.

Evening coming to an end and had to take a few photos, really hot day and car was spot on all week done a fair amount of miles and only issue I had was my brakes.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_9CBBADA4_E165_4172_AFB3_CD85199E640C_zpslptdyx50.webp

Hope to get on track again soon! Loving track time.
If people are serious and need help with conversions with wiring I will provide the diagram. However I won't be posting it to public just yet, as it's something I want to share with people doing conversions and not just people who want to do conversions.
Its still difficult making the correct lengths and you will need to be able to solder fairly neat and not messy.

I will upload it once I've spoken to admins to make it a sticky :)

Great to read with my Sunday breakfast great pick with the v6 in the distance

DG

Thanks, glad your enjoying it, still more to come!, the v6 was lovely car, trailered to the autodrome and was just nice to see.

@DannyAG200 drop me a message when you are ready to release the wiring diagram and I'll put it in our resource section.

What intercooler are you going for next ?

I shall do, still have a couple teething problems, nothing that effects driving just a fault that needs to be cleared and to see if it returns :)

As for intercooler, I think the stock one is a better choice than what I run currently! So I'm unsure for now

I was the old man at RST. ( Gray R26) I don't think they liked your gearbox!. Lovely car, well executed, and a lot cleaner than mine.

Oh hi! No they really didn't like I ran the Clio box did they, then again allot of people I upset on track didn't like it either. Perfect gearing for tracks.
Your car was lovely to look at and a true inspiration to see people as young as yourself still enjoying RenaultSports

Fantastic, maybe have a chat with Steven Venning about the wiring, he's having some strife!

I've spoken to him and would love to help him! If he was closer I'd be spending just as much time as I did to make his engine work. I personally do not believe the garage he's had it at have hanged so many things, there's an exact same issue again with that garage however this guy has been waiting 7months for nothing.

So I'd take what he's said with a pinch of salt and figure it out without knowing what he's claimed to have said.

Great power mate! I'm at 310/275 atm, she really flies but want more already!

Are you stock engine and 26box?

I just wanted to keep power down due to Clio box and reliability being a track fun car. Rstuning were very happy withh my turbo and thought it was a hybrid as it was holding/handling the boost so well.

Maybe in the future il want something more 350bhp from it haha

yeah standard engine and R26 box.

I understand Pauls feeling regarding your turbo, mines at the max boost it wants to give now, could be due to tired actuator, going to wind it in one turn soon to see if it'll hold boost better :)

Just updating where I am with my car now, not allot has changed. New seats are in, scoop is attached, finally cleaned it, debadge and carbon tips and just really been enjoying the car.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_D2271112_2D08_48C1_8AB5_0F26A2ABAC6F_zpsxmbpqei7.webp
( removed the Renault UK sticker, too bitchy. So glad everyone at turbo Renault seems genuine and wants to help another out)

Few pics of recent days with the car

So seats in and mounted the passenger seat pretty low and as far back as it could go then suited drivers seat to me

Took a long drive up to see progress on Luke's Megane build on his car and help out with that. Picked up his Clio box ready for when either my box fails or when my other halfs 197 fails so thanks to Luke for that!

That's all for now, I think I'm going to go down the route of the weld in cupracer topmounts also which jade develop will be doing for me since he built up these coilovers and maintained them for jake honour. So having allot of handling mods done over winter, maybe build my spare box up also

Update as its been a while;;

Cars been with jade developments, Sean's a top bloke!,
So original plan was to have my r3's fitted and a couple other bits. However I got that phone call from him and asked if I wanted to swap my r3 kit for a cupracer. So I've done that as its a much stiffer kit overall,

Cars had some custom machined mounts to suit and cupracer kit installed. New ball joints, Sean's brake lines and clamps, adjustable topmounts, camber set up and full geo done.

I believe my cars over fueling badly on its cold map so I'm trying to have rstuning sort this out. Well pulling out of jade developments I spun the wheels and jolted all up the road. I was not expecting the car to be so so stiff!

What a transformation though, turn in is much improved and feels more dangerous as it's fairly snappy but I love it and can only imagine how much better it will be on track now.

Got it home and started right away doing a full livery on the car. Still needs a couple bits doing but il update with some more pictures!! :)

Just a couple photos, will get more detailed ones next weekend and the livery I'm doing should also be completed by then!

So upon arrival at jade developments I noticed right away the camber on my motor!

As soon as I got it home I started doing my livery on my car. Still got about an hour or two to complete it, but here's a preview of it :)

Not everyone's going to like it but hey

Great project ,wish I was half as clever as a lot of you guys on here. Real inspiration for my Albi blue 197. Planning to do some sprints and hillclimbs in standard production while assembling parts then get a partial strip and half cage, R26R style, and give it to RS Tuning to do the conversion to turbo. Interested in your gearbox choice, gearing is so low on my 197 but for track use do you need my than a 135?

Il take that as a complement :) thanks,

I must say boosting these clios is fun, but more track focused side of things makes me want NA.

There's a fairly noticeable difference between the 197 and 200 gearbox. 197 I find abit too short.

I was at Bedford autodrone and I was doing around 130 down the back straight, most tracks you won't really be going much more than that tbf.

Just some small updates, not allot is happenening.

I've had my wheels off and test fitted my cupracer wheels, what a nice difference that width has on the wheels. I think I'm going to go with shorter springs on the front to drop it down abit more. But I want to really get it on track and give it stick to make sure I'm happy with how it's set up.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_Mobile_20Uploads_f42d8457ba5c206a3cca66b9320d9af1.webp

As the wheels were off, I took a look at what Sean's done to the car, so cupracer suspension and new braided lines were looked over. Must say I did have a little giggle to myself when I saw the size of this spring! True coilover on the rear.

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_Mobile_20Uploads_fbfcfc8c25e5dadffd05f3280fbc47f5.webp

Back to livery.. So stickers going on and wrapping it, however I did just love the clean green look sitting on yellow wheels but John deer sprung to mind......

Had to bring it inside to finish up so haven't got many good picture of it, but almost done now!!

There will be some more small updates over winter, nothing too special

Here's one thing, small but I like the small touches to things

i1272.photobucket.com_albums_y400_Danny78VTR_Mobile_20Uploads_3d3593ce6a9e66ef3b78c5d2d150be27.webp

So I'm smoothing my door bullets by hand and then il be wrapping them black then putting an overlay sticker il make for the car.

Enjoy

I like the John Deere look !

Whats the difference between standard suspension ?

Allot of people have said that but I like to do things how is like it :) if someone doesn't know me id like the car to be known as something rather than the green car with yellow wheels haha

Normally youd have a separate spring to dampener like my bilstien b14 kit did, my bilstein r3 kit had a spring and dampener on one but spring was full length if you scroll up abit you'll see. This bulstien cupracer kit has again a true coilover but the spring is very small!
