Clio Adey's Clio 172 Turbo (project 250bhp per tonne)

Before doing anything rash, maybe take a week or 2 from anything car related then take stock. 3 options in my eyes...break for parts, build a new engine and go again or pick up a 2nd hand engine, bung it in and move on

funds being tight at the mo breaking for parts is the option i have i think. I purchased this expecting to sell the twingo to fund it, luckily for me the twingo hasnt sold so i now need it again as i commute around 90miles. now at the point where i need to start getting some funds back. the car complete isnt worth much as its a 17 owner no service shell, in bits i could scrape some cash back. ticked all the boxs now though, had an itb clio supercharged one and now the turbo one.

No idea tbh. I think the complete turbo conversion is gota be worth 1600 on its own? There are a few bits on it I want to keep so might be easier to sell in bits rather than complete.

17 owners!?

Adey, feel gutted for you mate, shame about the amount of owners on the car proper slag. Easy fix with another engine to be dropped straight in the turbo set-up along must be worth £1300 - £1500, for breaking a 172 they don't break well unless you have goodies and you have alot of spares left over, I know I broke my first one only broke even on it and shit loads of parts still in my shed. Although the part's have come in handy as I have owned 2 more 172's since then and used part's from it to fix them and sell them on. If it wasn't for the fact I have just bought another R5 GTT I would be tempted and sling another engine in it although with the price of 172's could be possible to pick up decent shell and swap all over cheap. As is the car isn't worth much other than breaking. Prob be lucky to get £1500 for the car but that's only as you have the turbo kit if that's not fecked with swarf. Feel proper gutted been here a few times with my project. Best way is buy a cheap 172 and swap the turbo bit's over or engine source

Can pick engines up easily/cheap enough... Swap it over and sell complete... But doing 90 miles commute every day... Is a clio turbo the ideal car...

Why not? I'd do it in gt turbo? Bar all its faults and blowing up its been great lol. Starting to browse engines but now I'm worried the turbo will be totalled aswell
