A No Claims Discount Question

I was just wondering, how long you can 'not insure' a car for but still keep your built up no claims bonus?

At the moment i'm looking at a 'future classics' insurance policy - it really suits my current needs / usage, but they (the insurers) don't need / use the no claims discount system as its a classics policy, or therefore the discount I have accrued over the years.

So how long can you be uninsured for, before you loose what you have built up?

Regards, Steve.

Hey fella!!

I 'believe', its two years. You're better off checking with a broker to make sure though

Hope all is well up there bud!

I believe the general lapse is 2 years however it really depends on the insurance company. If you contact who you're with (because all companies rules differ), some allow dormant periods ranging from three months, up to two years - you can get this in writing from the company so that they will honour it (hopefully!).

Why bother with insurance Steve new years resolution or something, your not usually totally leagal you old dog
