Other ( non boosted Renault ) 5 1996 1.4 with single point injection not starting

Hi there,
I have a problem with a Renault 5 1996 1.4 with single point injection not starting. Got a good spark at the plugs, got fuel going in and out of the carb from the fuel lines was running ok but now won't start. Checked the TDC crankshaft sensor that seems ok and all I get is a chuff from the carb Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

I also noticed it has a what looks like a fuel cut off switch by the perculator with a white and purple wire with a black screw in or out switch and not sure if it should be in or out and cannot find anything in the Pains (sorry) Haynes Manual

Does it run if you unplug the injector and use easy start, or drop an egg-cup full of fresh fuel down the throttle body?

General rule is:

Fuel + Correctly timed spark + Compression = Engine run. Find whats missing.

Thanks for the reply and your help, I didn't unplug the injector but I did try some easy start and a cup of fuel down the throttle body and it still didn't start. I was just reading the haynes and discovered that the switch I mentioned is an anti theft switch? still don't know if it should be in or out but presumably if it was operating then I wouldn't have a spark at the plugs?

That depends what it cuts, fuel or spark. I don't know unfortunately. Have you cleaned and gapped the plugs too?
The switch I mentioned has 2 vacuum pipes running through it . One is from the carb and the other to return via a tee to the perculator if that helps.

They are brand new plugs as car was serviced a few months ago, I did take one out just to recheck the spark which was very strong and the plug was clean and not wet. But I can remove all 4 check all gaps etc before trying again. Is there anything else I can check on the carb?

ps I like your 405 logo!!!

Damn Love my sweeties!!!! LOL I will check tomorrow morning as suffering with the bad storm here at the moment I will take a pic of the switch and post it. Will be interesting to know as I was looking to see if there is a fuel relay somewhere which I thought would be in the engine bay but I haven't found it as yet

Problem Solved,
I checked the cambelt first just to be sure there wasn't a problem then aligned the timing marks and thought I may as well check everything through just to be sure that all is well.
Checked timing, cleaned plugs and checked leads and low and behold when I got to the distributor I found the inner dust cap under the rotor arm had deteriorated to the point of leaving crumbly plastic bits inside the cap.
Cleaned them all out and low and behold she fired up straight away. Ran for 10 mins just to warm things up and I started to get a a bit of a misfire.
So removed the dizzy cap again to find the same again so removed the dust cover completely, re-cleaned and the car started fine and no issues since.
So the culprit was the dust cover breaking up and creating interference between the rotor arm and the dizzy cap.
So new dust cover, dizzy cap and rotor arm now on order
As promised here is photo of the cut off switch by the perculator.
Many thanks for all the help and advice and I hope this of help to others and I have learnt that Renault 21 Turbos are probably the best cars in the world! ever !!
