Hi All,
I need to sell my Renault 5 GT Turbo. Purchased as a project that I've been saving up to complete. I recently had 2 major hip operations and am currently out of work as a result, so I can't see myself being able to get this project done any time soon so it has to go.
My original thread from when I bought it gives a lot of detail and some interesting background from members:
Since then the car had been dry stored and little has changed. A few details to add to the thread above:
-What's there: Shell, C1J engine (not seized), carb I think is present but partly dismantled, turbo is mostly present but I think is partly dismantled, interior is there, but seats have been done in leather, dash/dials is there, black carpet looks dirty, but should clean up well. See pics for more details.
-Parts known to be missing: air intake/filter, battery, original bonnet hinges.
-Parts that seem non-standard (I'm no expert): Bonnet, both bumpers, spoiler, wheels, front seat covers (not sure if they are covering the original seat frames/foam),
-I started cutting out rust on the sills and have sprayed any bare metal revealed with weld-through zinc primer.
-I have new outer sills in the standard black undercoat ready to go in.
-I have replacement inner sills, but these came as bare sheet metal and have acquired some surface rust so would benefit from cleaning up, or would make good templates for copying on to new sheet metal.
-I have new front jacking points in black undercoat ready to fit.
-A local GT Turbo owner/enthusiast looked over the car last year. He noted that the rear end section had been replaced, probably early in the car's life, which ties in with the mention of a rear-end repair in the thread above. Boot shuts perfectly so positioning looks spot-on. It looks to have been done very well and the only sign it's been replaced is some extra seam sealer.
-Engine turns over and has not seized.
-All the parts removed by me previously will be included and will fit inside the car for transport. Nothing has left the lockup so everything I had to begin with is still present, plus the new sills and jacking points.
-Handbrake cable is unhooked. Might work if re-connected, but for transportation on a trailer, please assume none of the brakes work, but the car can be put in gear for a bit of security.
-I have industrial braked trolley wheels suitable for making a timber dolly to sit the shell on while you're working on it. I can include these if necessary.
-Haynes manual included. Invaluable when taking bits out, and reverse to put stuff back (e.g. dash)
-The car will need trailering away from Falmouth, Cornwall.
-I've got the V5C present in my name.
It's an honest project for the right person and will cost more or less depending on your skills/equipment and how original or high spec your end goal is. I'm absolutely gutted as it's still my dream car, but I'm in no financial or physical state to get it sorted, so it's time to sell.
I'm looking for £1500 from an enthusiast who can take the whole thing soonish.
Any questions, please PM me.
Many thanks,
Rich

5 GT Turbo - Pink GT Turbo Restoration
Hi All, Having grown up watching these things rule the mean suburbs of Plymouth I have just got myself a fairly knackered GT Turbo to get running and slowly restore to the awesome machine it should be. It's this one: Ebay listing The winning bidder didn't collect so it ended up being mine for...
