1978 Renault 12 Frog Dog. Definitely slow, slightly low.

Quick bit of maintenance/checking on the car ready for some motorway cruising. Replaced a cable tie on a cv boot for a proper clip and then checked the gearbox oil level. Easy to do on this but she drank about 1.5ltrs...... no obvious leaks but ill keep an eye on it.

Wooo hooo. So gave her a good run today, everything seems quieter with some oil in the box. She does seem to surge a little so the timing is probably out still or the carbs still dirty. I even joined the M5 from one side of Gloucester to the other and back with no drama. Well apart from reving the tits off it to run at 65mph and clenching my cheeks when passing cats eyes lol. No failures to report, everything seems fine and she was super comfy on her cruise. Roll on RRG

Yeeeeeeesssss! Love this, love how you can make something fairly normal look badass. You've got the lows and stance down 👌

Its just right in the condition it is, magazine photo shoot for sure?

cheers @Ricardo i think even the shittest car can look good with bags of lows.

Would be nice to get in a mag though im not sure its to anyones taste or what box it would tick to get in one? its just old low and slow (its actually not too bad around town and will take most normal things at the lights with weighing nowt)

tempted to see if i can scrounge some old gtt parts and bolt a T2 to the side of it, give it like 5psi of boost or something

It would definitely make a mag, there's a place for it in how it is just look at the VWs with the patina, rough round the edges, left in original condition look. It's a different slant, and personally I love it. It doesn't have to be fast and polished to death, it's the journey and progress to where it is what makes the story. Time and effort that you've personally put in to get it where it is, the average Joe on the street will think yeah just an old car that looks saggy in the suspension lol but the car nuts know 👌

We will see how it gets on at RRG it might get spotted and asked to be in a mag, thats how my LeCar 2 ended up been in last time

just to keep the thread updated, ive been using the 12 as and when i can, so far she has been faultless.

@jxke did me a photoshop as i had a little idea. i liked it so much ive kinda gone with it, well most of it.

Worn out gordini stripes looked cool to me as in the render above. So far ive done a single stripe in white primer so its flat like the rest of the car and should weather and fade a little to match quite quickly.
