1978 Renault 12 Frog Dog. Definitely slow, slightly low.

Managed to get the rear bench in, i think they have come from an estate version as the fixings are slightly different. There also doesnt seem to be the holes there to fix the rear arm rest down so that will also need revisiting. All in all it looks good in there bar the tatty top of the seat. I had a quick look atbthe light housings and ill need to drill the old fixings out so that can wait a day or 2.

I haven't done to much to it this week, i did get the old head light surrounds/housings out only to find there wasnt much metal left holding them in so something will have to be welded back in to hold them. I did this eve sort out a binding brake i had, all i did was remove the caliper, clean up the piston with a wire brush and let it soak for 10 min in wd40, came back cleaned it off again and it moved back very easily. Hopefully no more sticking brake issue, and one more thing off the list.

Ive also sorted some wheels, YAY. they are still steelies but in 14inch flavour as opposed to the 13s this is rolling on and i think will suit banding quite nicely. They have been collected on a favour by one of the chaps i work with and he should be dropping by the office thursday next week so i should have them then. They are off a Spanish renault 8.

They look Win! :bf:

Had a little time to get the front finished off, well housings in and grills back on. Should be fine for a while but i think the long term plan will include a complete front clip and ph1 grills. Funds and time wont stretch to that at the mo though. I lifted her up to get a little look at the rims on the car, whilst in there she lost a few coils off the front. To get the lows i require it will have to be put on some custom made coilovers for sure. Looks a little less reverse rake now though. Really need to crack on with the metal work next, i think thats the next major hurdle for the car.

I know, quite suprising the difference an inch makes (she says lol) the same wheel is available in 15 too but from what i understand only a late spanish r8 came with the 14 inch version. Ive got a guy willing to band them for me too from the retro rides forum (y) Need to get the car somewhere close to the height i want to be able to measure up accurately though.

This week i have been going back and forth wth gaz over the front suspension. Chopped springs wernt going to cut it up front. Now gaz were awesome and would basically make me anything i wanted at a price, i was scouring ebay and found something very close to what i needed. Any way that turned up and ive been tinkering with them to get it to fit. I need to make up a couple of spacers and then the front should be finished. Its dam low though........ tempted to keep everything quite narrow to start with just as it looks cool dumped with the wheels disappearing into the arches. Fingers crossed i can get the spacers i want made by the weekend and i can look at the rear setup.

After the help of a friend and some washers i managed to get the front coilovers fitted up. Car sits nicely tucked now but could always go lower. She has enough adjustment left to put the engine cradle on the floor grin.webp the rear i have had to do a chopped spring job, i still need to do the one side but it will have to do until i can spec up/or make/modify some coilovers to suit. Getting there slowly.
